Afternoon everybody, we are driving across I-70 with the aircard plugged into the router here in the coach. I’m able to freep wireless with a reasonally decent speed, faster than dial-up for sure.

You know, when all of this is over and people start looking back on when the tide started to turn against The One, I think they will be pointing to the 'above my pay grade' response to Rick Warren's question about when a baby gets human rights. Nobama delivered that line in full baritone and exactly the way he intended to say it, and, to Nobama's horror, it fell flat. I think that was the first time he had no real backup for a major screw-up.

Runners-up would be:

- The Palin Pick (and the resulting smear campaign)
- The lawsuit to have the producer of a 527 ad prosecuted
- The shutdown of the University of Illinois at Chicago's Library Archives and subsequent re-opening for Stanley Kurtz in re the Chicago Annenberg Challenge papers
- The Biden Pick (aka the Hitlery snub)

I really think that Nobama would have had the election wrapped up if he had picked Hitlery, because you know she would have been able to take shots at Palin and would have had the media right behind her handing her ammunition....;-))

I agree the “above my pay grade” was the start of the turn. But it would have been recoverable except for the absolutely brilliant follow-ups by the McCain Camp. Choosing Palin pulled the base in and we were not in before that. What is finishing off Nobama is the lipstick smear. You should never beat up on a woman.

I think you are right about the McCain Campaign and their quick responses. It has always unnerved me that the Bushes ever seem to be ‘above’ campaigning or even fighting back (W to this day won’t hit back on much of anything, especially with good news from Iraq). McCain seems willing to put regular smackdowns on a candidate not used to having to defend himself...;-))

If you watch the YouTube of the actual quote, the entire crowd there took it as a slam on Palin and he smiled when he got the reaction he was looking for...;-))

FWIW, I suspect that I may have encountered this doc as a classmate while in high school, those many moons ago. If he is the same person, I didn’t think much of him even then.
