Two of my cats were geniuses.<<<
LOL, of course they are.
Some of mine have been also, LOL, but not all of them.
Even the feral cats know when you pop the top on a can of cat food, that they will have a treat.

We have a couple of Maine Coon cats that weigh in between 25 and 30 lbs each. They both outweigh the 3 Rat Terriers. They were raised with the Rat Terriers and there is mutual respect and love between the cats and dogs. When the cats start prowling the kitchen looking for food, my wife simply asks if they want to eat. They dash for their enclosure in the living room and my wife follows with the food in hand. They are sharp kitties.
There's nothing quite like having a big 30 lb cat leap into your lap. It is accompanied by a reasonable concern for the big claws.
