>>find something to be cheerful about during these perilous times.

In TN there's a mass exodus from the ‘Pubs to the Libertarian party......

LOL! Well put, till.

Weak and stupid Scott is now friendless except for his mama and probably his dog (not even sure about it...lol), who said she approved of him writing the book.

Karl Rove has ample grounds to sue him, but Rove is too smart to give Scott any more public attention.

'Tis better by far to let him rot in oblivion.

Thanks, Mozie. I see now that I should have widened my search to the outside of this country.

I understand their wish for flight....but to Bob Barr? No way.

I'm inclined to believe that 'rumor', Dog!

Other than I don't approve of vegetarian or hard liquor in a restaurant... I may have approved that menu.

Portabella mushroom is pretty devoid of essential protiens. I would rather serve a PBJ on white-bread. (at least that has {most of} the right stuff)

While I'm ok with martini's as rifles and drinks... they have no place in a restaurant. Both numb the experience.

And being a smoker, I have to admit, I don't want cigarette smoke in the restaurant, either.

Just my grumpy old observations.

Which is why I live alone. And remain happy that way.

Portabella mushrooms, because of their size and thickness, make a nice "burger" substitute for those of us of the vegetarian persuasion. The cheese on the sandwich provides the protein.I can make a PBJ at home. When I go out I want something a little more exotic.

The martini served as his dessert, so the experience wasn't numbed. Besides, he couldn't get too numb because he had to go to work later.:)

I hate smoke in restaurants too, or anywhere else for that matter.

What's the female version of a grumpy old barstid? ;-)

Grumpy old vegetarian female barstid....

I think that's the correct term. I'll update later tonight and find out. ;)

I just can't condone vegetarianism, even as I struggle to support those that don't eat meat with my menus.

Your son is obviously forgiven. It was Friday. It was lunch. But those kind of carbs hurt folks. Once, on a Friday, not followed by coffin races down the street, are ok. ;)

Meat makes me ill due to a medical condition. I feel MUCH better when I avoid it. Which I now do. Completely.

OH, and BTW my son is really not a "coffin races down the street" kind of guy. Not this one.

Now, the Army kid...............well, that's a different story.:)

His exploits would fill volumes.

Which is why I struggle to support it. Worst case scenario for me involved an Army Captain that did NOT get enough protein. No eggs, no milk.

I am commanded to "Feed MY people" and sometimes, you just can't.

I still feel responsible.

And on the sons.... batting .500 isn't bad. And if he'll have a Martini at lunch, I'll bet Ev and I could have him running road races before the night was out, giving the funding, opportunity, situation.... the right food, a couple of girls I know...

Not that I would corrupt a saint.... but the saint better be pretty well protected. ;)

The youngest and I are really looking forward to the horse race tomorrow. Is it being broadcast on Direct TV? What channel?

Or do we have to access local channels?

coffee out the nose on that one. Gotta love a kid like that.

Have him come to my funeral and do cheers.

He'll fit in well. With exactly 3 of my relatives. And me.

ROFL, you're killing me.:-)

Ev would love nothing more, trust me.:)

....and as for protein, never fear, I make sure I consume an adequate amount each & every day. No way would I give up eggs & dairy. This is Wisconsin, ya know. Cheese curds are one of the four food groups (I won't tell you what the other three are, I've upset you enough already.;-)

I don't watch anymore. No TV, no cable, nothing but NPR on FM some Tuesdays and Fridays (Trash days, I make it a point). I'm more out of the loop than you, and here I am in the middle of Texas.

Great country, ain't it?

Our relatives all love Ev but some of them just don't quite know what to make of him.:)

Actually, that goes for friends, co-workers, teachers, comrades-in-arms, etc. etc. also.etc.

Some people are just unique, you know?

........and some are WAAAAY more unique than others.

(Preachin' to the choir here.;-)

Luckily Katie GETS him. (She's sorta unique too.:-)

It's so flippin' hot here I can't stand it. I have to move to a cooler room.

Adios.

I can live with cheese curds. Just don't ask me to drink whey for breakfast. Been there, done that.

'Go medieval on your @$$' doesn't require bringing the food into it.

Watered and sugared wine, coffee and random ground grains were bad enough for breakfast. And the old barstid never did make his point.

Pork sausage, a good biscuit, and two over easy with strong coffee works better for me.

Today... that is a good day to be alive and kicking arse. ;)

Pushes his hat back and says in a John Wayne voice. "Well, Ma'am I have that effect on some folks".

And don't lie.... You can hear Ev say it just as well as I can. (Except he knows where his teef are). ;)

Go cool down. Enjoy your evening. Take a minute or two and make your children appreciate being Americans. Make your husband glad he's not married to a Russian.

And then we've got coffin races in 45 minutes.

Bring your hubby if he's fast on his feet.

"I can't swim, sir"

"How old are you?"

"Six years, sir."

Picks kid up by belt and back of shirt... Splashes kid.

Kid makes it across the crick.

I don't understand what is difficult with that training routine.

Lord knows I'm not allowed to do training like that these days.
