What would be great entertainment at the RNC in Minneapolis?

A colleague of mine and I were discussing great groups that would be ideal for entertaining at the Republican National Convention, and I thought why not see if any of the many brilliant freepers might have a bit of wisdom in this matter.

I'm a little older so not too up on all that hip music the kids are listening to, but some good ideas were:

3 Doors Down Switchfoot Sara Evans

and my favorite:

Hall & Oates (I told you I was old)

I appreciate any constructive ideas.

Thanks in advance.

Americans are so obsessed with American Idol, one of the winners would probably go over well. Heck, even the losers do okay.

I hate this election cycle, and I love politics...I’m not involved this time around, beyond giving some tactical advice here and there.

I’ve never met the man, but that’s the impression I always got from his work. I’ve always been a HUGE fan of Bill Cosby’s, since long before I bothered much with politics. Ha...now I watch Little Bill with the grandkids. This country could USE another one of him.

The locally grown Prince will sometimes pop his head up if there is a fun crowd and a good chance of an extended jam session. He does seem to prefer the sneak attack type of concert with little advanced notice.

Though he dresses like a liberal, his present tax burden may have turned him Republican. ;)

I recall Bon Jovi touring and fundraising with Kerry in 2004, and ultimately admitting that he didn't vote afterwards.

If you go to Minneapolis, your best bet for entertainment is First Ave, as the convention is in St. Paul.

Well, unless I’m wrong they switched over to GOP or at least one of the Bon Jovi brothers did. One of them donated a guitar to an NRA fundraiser. Oh well...

A public flogging of McCain, Schwarzenegger, Giuliani, Bloomberg... and any number of TrojanHorse-liberals(R) that are destroying the party? The Republican Main Street partnership would be a good place to start looking for candidates.

Okay... flogging might be too violent.

How about a pie-thowing event? They can even charge a $/pie... think how much money they could raise!

I don’t know their political persuasion but I like Itzhak Perlman or Hilary Hahn. It will add some real class(ical).

Switchfoot would be an excellent choice as would Sara Evans. Other suggestions: Lifehouse, Daughtry, Collective Soul, Jason Castro has a music ministry, though he may be obligated (as a Christian artist, he is very good), Adrienne Camp (former lead singer of Benjamin Gate and now wife of Jeremy Camp), Leigh Nash (formerly of Sixpence NTR), Amy Grant. Hot, but maybe too edgy bands: Flyleaf, POD, Evanescence

Best entertainment would be a totally new candidate.

That would fire me up. Otherwise, I don’t care. Maybe McCain could get those McCain girls to show up.

How about a lecture by Ben Stein on Milton Friedman’s economic theories. I know I’d be on my feet cheering and holding up a lighter.
