Like a marriage that has gone bad, I believe there are enough irreconcilable differences between those who want to control and those want to be left alone that divorce is the only peaceable alternative. Just as in a marriage, where vows are broken, our human rights protections guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution have been grossly violated by a government instituted to protect them. Americans who are responsible for and support constitutional abrogation have no intention of mending their ways.

Only McCain and the Democrat candidate will be in the race. Any others will just be vanity candidates hanging on the sidelines.
If your goal is for MORE conservative government, then McCain is the only vote you can cast to help get that. Don’t like it? Tough cr@pola. Welcome to a democratic Republic.
If you want to make a statement, rather than helping more conservative government get in office? Vote for whoever the hanger-on tin foil candidate of your choice happens to be. They may be on the ballot but THEY AREN’T IN THE RACE.
Are you a homosexual or not?
OK, pick a state, any state, and poll the people about seceding. Quote all of Williams’ arguements. Let me know what you find out.
Are you a homosexual or not?
Ah, so now the true you is revealed.
You're most certainly hep. With it. In the know. Today's GOP.
*snicker*
C’mon, was that your best shot?
Let’s see some more of that McCainiac intellectual firepower. Don’t hold back, sugah.
Do you speak english too?
No.
That makes me your biggest and bestest pal in the whole wide world now, don't it?
No, you are obviously Hillary and Obama’s biggest and bestest friends in the whole world.
As I said, that is yet to be determined. With the anger and disunity predicted for both sides, it is quite likely a win could happen at less than 40%- Well within the grasp of Conservatives standing alone, provided a unifying Reagan Conservative appears as a 3rd or independent.
If your goal is for MORE conservative government, then McCain is the only vote you can cast to help get that.
I vehemently disagree. McCain and his ilk bring LESS conservatism, not more.
If you want to make a statement, rather than helping more conservative government get in office? Vote for whoever the hanger-on tin foil candidate of your choice happens to be. They may be on the ballot but THEY ARENT IN THE RACE.
You should hope for as much, as the Dems can field a ham sandwich and still beat McCain.
Yeah, but as has been so graciously revealed to us by the Prophet, in post 5:
McCain has a more attractive spouse...
*snort*
What happened in our revolution?
We didn't like the British taxing us, so we threw them out and formed our own government ...
... which went on to tax us more than the British ever did, and with out own consent.
It's like that with revolutions, secessions, independence movements, and anti-imperial wars.
We throw off the oppressors and form our own government.
Because it's "our own" government we don't object to paying taxes.
A national elite grows up around the federal government and looks for even more tax money to spend.
Since the national elite doesn't exist in isolation from other elites it starts to resemble them.
So you more or less get what you rebelled against.
You can see something of the same process in state government right now -- even (or especially) in the most conservative states.
People are always complaining that their governor is a country club or chamber of commerce Republican and not a conservative ideologue.
What do you think would happen if your state were a country? Do you think the RINOs would automatically step aside and let you run things?
Of course there are ways of arresting the process -- tribalism, militarism, theocracy -- but they do more harm than good.
An independence movement may be justified under some circumstances.
If your rulers are stealing your land or enslaving you or are trying to uproot your language and culture, you'd do well to organize against them.
But if your complaint is high taxes, you rarely get what you want through independence.
I don't get why Walter Williams never addresses the question seriously, but treats secession as some kind of magic potion that will set everything to rights.
If it looks like the country as a whole is going down the European world on God, guns, and gays, there will be more talk of secession.
But really do you think an independent Texia would be any better at holding the line on these things than a superpower would?
It doesn't matter whether your find him or Clinton or Obama acceptable. Whoever is elected, will be president.
I believe an objective mind will see there is a vast difference between him and the Democrats.
I find them all unacceptable.
It doen’t matter WHAT you find acceptable. One of them will when in November. There won’t be ANYONE else on the race. Even if there is some “hanger on” glory seeker on the ballot, they won’t be “in the race”.
I don’t understand how this is so hard to see.
I see that certainly one of three unacceptable candidates will be in the White House, and will do so without my vote.
You need to help with the decision of which is best or which is worst and help lead this country to the best it can be. Not so much what “you need” but the country needs each of us working to do our best with what is in front of us. I wish it was Duncan Hunter or Fred Thompson or even Huckabee. It’s not. McCain is NOT the same as Clinton. We are only hurting ourselves when we continue to say those things.
One of these people will president and there is a major difference between them all.
I’m going to work for the best one available and then lobby for the best out of them.
