Good morning!

2 primaries tomorrow.

Rev. Wright gave an astonishing, jaw-dropping speech before the NAACP last night. Will it be covered by the MSM? Is this the kind of speech we need to get beyond the race issue - Obama's first position during this campaign season, OR to confront honestly this country's racial history - Obama's second , post-Wright position, during this campaign season?

I understand the Rev. will be talking at the National Press Club this morning....covered probably by CSPAN.

I attended Senator McCain’s Townhall Meeting in DM today. The Secret Service didn’t even try to disguise themselves. The topic was Healthcare.

The hall was slow to fill because there was only one metal detector and we all had to go thru it. I am not an expert on Healthcare issues, but I hang out with people who are, so many of the things he talked about were familiar to me.

I was impressed with the way McCain was so quick on his feet with someone who managed to infiltrate the crowd and then ask a ‘crude’ question. The Senator didn’t bat an eye,, just stated that language of that nature was offensive to many people in the crowd and that he was moving on to the next question.

I was really bothered by the slowness of the SS to react to this guy. They just sort of wandered to the front to take the microphone away from him and head him toward the back. I’d have been on top of him with a sledge hammer. After they got the guy moving in the right direction, they sort of backed off,, so he approached the press table and held up a sheet of paper with a message on it. I don’t know what was on the paper. I didn’t recognize all the press people, as you would expect with a national campaign. But I was impressed that most of them totally ignored they guy. Finally, the SS approached him and escorted him out of the hall.

There was a nice sized crowd for the middle of the day in the middle of the week.

I sat one row in front of the press, on the isle so I had a pretty good view of the crowd. The Senator was well received (except for that one guy) and people hung around afterwords to get in the rope line.

McCain has some really good people on his Iowa staff. Highly skilled and able to produce. They indicated Iowa will be targeted again this election cycle, and the Senator said he’d be back in time to attend the Iowa State Fair,,, and that he wanted another Pork Chop on a Stick and a deepfat fried Snickers. (So much for Healthcare Discussions)

Thank you for the report from the front lines IG.

The thing you mentioned is the thing I noticed in the debates - McCain would nicely deflect what he saw as contentious or something that he obviously did not want to deal with. Altho I’ve heard he can be an attack dog, we don’t see it during this campaign season. Well, not so much. I’ve been surprised by it, as I’ve heard stories of how he can be pugnacious.

And - ugh - friend snickers? LOL

Oh! I made good coffee this morning. I’m on my first cup, but another would hit the spot. Sometimes I try to do less cups, less coffee.. As far as flavor, it seems like it never works out no matter how good I am at math it never taste just right.

I’ve spent the past 3 years searching for the ‘perfect’ coffee.

I remember one cup, about 10 years ago, that came close. I really wish I knew ‘what’ beans were used.

Today I booked my tickets from LAX to ATL via Travelocity. Well. No sooner had I closed that deal than there was a pop-up window suggesting that I “Be a hero. Live at zero.” or some such slogan. This competition had linked to flights being booked and was offering me the opportunity to reduce my carbon footprints of these particular flights with a “green” purchase.

I gotta get my business together.

The youngest asked me yesterday if I knew how to brew coffee. I had to confess; I have no idea. I’ve never made coffee and do not intend to make coffee.

Don’t tell me. I am not interested.

In our FL electric bill we’re asked to voluntarily contribute an extra $9.75 ...”...for environmental credits associated with cleaner generation sources of electricity like bioenergy, wind and solar.”

Huh?

New study: 58 percent of black children can't swim. I think this is just wrong. I think everyone needs to know how to swim. I made sure that my kids could swim as they learned to walk (and fall into bodies of water). The youngest, no joke and seriously, could swim at age two.

That’s $9.75 per month, mind you.

Huh? Huh? I didn’t understand your confusion. Perhaps you meant about my business. I intend to sell carbon credits. For $50 I will plant a rose bush, camelia, peony, azaelas or tea olives so that my customers can offset a portion of their carbon footprints for a five-year period.
