the easiest way to figure stuff out on your own is to click source and copy what others are doing.

Take a starter course for HTML (you can google it) and then use what you find. You have to use tage to do things to the text, or post pictures, or make links.
Open and close < > surrounds the tag.
i = italics, then /i to end italcs
b = bold, then /b to end it.
img src= posts an image. with the URL for the image in double quotes.
Remeber to place the < > around these commands.

Same here. I have followed the idiot proof instructions on how to post a picture but I have never been successful. I am likewise ashamed.
It is a shame because over the years I have had some excellent photos to share.

I’m with you brother. I feel your pain. I have had the same problems. In addition I have been unable to get girls to date me.

Why are you having problems? If you have posted before using colors?
And posted pictures?
Nothing has changed at FR when using the correct HTML.

All useful responses, but it needs to be said that many sites now have 'comments' posting sections that do many or all of these things without resorting to HTML - and allow for edits of posted comments. FR is pretty badly behind the times, here.

The neatest thing I have ever seen for internet posting/ forums is the ne Microsoft Live Write.
It allows you to compose in a true wysiwyg format. Then you can copy and paste it directly.

If you run Firefox, you can get an extension called
Xinha Here! that'll give you an HTML editor for the reply box. After installing it, you just right click in the reply box and select it in the menu.

A good point was made by shuckmaster.
When you find a post that has a feature you like, right click the entire page and select “view source” from the commands available.
A screen will open showing you that page you were viewing expressed in the raw html code.
It will take you some time learning how to make that view source page wrap and how to find the exact post you are looking for with find commands and the like looking for key words or poster names, but eventually you will find the individual lines of html code that the poster used to produce the effect that you wish to duplicate.
Then it is copy and paste and edit to change how you wish.
Another thing. If you are in the reply box on a post and you have html commands or flags anywhere in your response the automatic formatting gets turned off. Where you have made paragraphs, line breaks and the like, those won’t be carried over to the preview or post because the automatic formating is only used on replies that have no html. You will have to manually add the < P > commands (without the spaces) to get paragraphs when you have html anywhere in the reply.

Everyone has given you good information.
Another thing to note is that you can also combine the HTML formatting codes:
<i><b><font color=blue>Here's what you get with italics, bold, font color and <u>underline</u> all at once!</font></b></i>
Here's what you get with italics, bold, font color and underline all at once!
