Cruelty of Shooting Back Yard Birds
Revski's YouTube Videos ^ | 3/28/08 | Revski

Posted on 03/28/2008 4:48:38 AM PDT by Revski

This is an animated video of a dove that we see in most back yards. As a child, I with a slingshot, 22 rifle and 12 gage shot gun, killed many kinds of birds just to see if I could aim good and bring the little creature to the ground. I didn’t kill for food but in adolescent behavior. It is so cruel and for this reason I created this video to show and teach the cruelty of this kind of behavior.

Doves are migratory wildlife protected by both Federal Law and International Treaty. They are prized and legally hunted for their food value under the terms of those laws and treaties.

If you have the background you claim you should know all this and more.

An animation is nothing more than an inaccurate and misleading representation of what actually occurs during a dove hunt.

Best regards,

Too many people too close, and besides, I'd be too tempted to pop one of the neighbor's endlessly yapping curs.

*SIGH* More “socialist wussification” of our boys. I’m really starting to miss REAL MEN. They’ll be the ones extinct in another generation, not the ubiquitous sparrow or mourning dove. *Rolleyes*

I did my share; raised three boys to manhood. None have any problems with hunting, fishing, enjoying nature in all Her forms, and treating women properly. Birds are an excellent learning curve for moving on to bigger game. Aim small, miss small.

As a teen I only shot pigeons.

Those filthy disease carrying &^%*ing Rats with wings that roosted on our apartment buildings overhanging front porch, our Front Room top windows, and then the building across the street. I racked up 22 Kills with my trusty 5mm Benjamin - Sheridan Scoped Pellet rifle. (this w/o scope)

Six pumps would do it to knock them off the Chimney of the building across the street (they moved there after I got most from my building). Nothing sweeter than seeing those filthy &^%$%ers do a head first death dive to the ground from 3 stories up.

And if you think that's cruel, have then crap on you, your family, and friends a few times each over 15 years when you walk out your door dressed up. Until I did my 'cleanup work' we couldn't even sit outside.

[42 years later and it's still 'zeroed'.]

Some of the remaining real men in this country serve in our Armed Forces. We are still producing enough of them to keep an all-volunteer military. If the necessity ever arose to restore the draft, it would be impossible to shape them into the sort of force that defeated the Germans and the Japanese in World War II. Only a society with an ethic of self-discipline and a culture that encourages strong families and moral behavior can produce the quantities of young men needed for mass conscription.

If society in general continues to deteriorate, the United States will have to rely on foreign mercenaries, much as the Roman Empire did in its latter days.

LEAVE THE BIRDS ALONE!!!WAAAAAHHAHHAHAHAAA

Dove hunting is (in my neck of the woods) a family father/son tradition.
The only ones that don’t do it are the migrated yuppies. While me and my pop were unloading the guns from his pickup truck, the yuppies are sipping latte on their way to take little Kayla and Caleb to a damn soccer game.

And women. I’m Retired Army. My boys didn’t stand a chance when their Mom had just about as much testosterone as they did, LOL! Any time they were putting on their coats and grabbing their guns to go out to the field, I’d say, “Wait up! I wanna come, too!”

The fact that they had a Dad in the home, and still do, helped greatly, too! Didn’t mean to not give credit where credit is due!

A few years ago I went deer hunting, which I don't do that often. I was giving up on the hunt that evening and told God (I talk to him) "i don't care if I get a deer but if I do it better be huge or I ain't shooting it."

Well not a few minutes later I saw a huge buck between some trees. To make a long story short, I shot it, it took off and I couldn't find it. I was out with father in law and flashlights for a good while and never found it. Later the next day I found it on the other side of the property. It was pretty hot out so I decided I wasn't going to eat this deer. I sawed off his horns and left it for the buzzards.

I was pretty bothered over not eating it and this feeling stuck with me even after I returned home. A week or so later I asked God why this bugged me so much and his response was "You worship the creature more than the Creator which is blessed forever."

I was thankful for that correction.

That relationship clearly ends when one of them gets shot. What's your point?

I have a suet bird feeder in my suburban back yard. The starlings attack it so the finches (including my family of cardinals) don’t get to use it.

I have hesitated to kill them because I eat what I kill. (I’ve eaten blackbirds) I will make starling pot pie and report back.
