This is an animated video of a dove that we see in most back yards. As a child, I with a slingshot, 22 rifle and 12 gage shot gun, killed many kinds of birds just to see if I could aim good and bring the little creature to the ground. I didnt kill for food but in adolescent behavior. It is so cruel and for this reason I created this video to show and teach the cruelty of this kind of behavior.
My friends and I did the same when we were young. It was nothing for a half dozen or so to take our BB guns, pellet guns and .22s and go over to the abandoned gravel pit and shoot whatever we could.
Now its different. Could you imagine the response to seeing 6-8 teenagers walking through a neighborhood with pellet guns? They’d call out the SWAT team, take them to juvenile detention, brand them as terrorists and try them as adults.
WTF?
I would invite you to come to my place and take out the starlings that make a mess on my pickup.
Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page might shoot back but Eric seems to be a bit of a weeny.

I remember in my childhood there was a robin in our backyyard, pulling up a huge earthworm. Normally, they fly away when they see someone, but this worm was huge and it didn’t want to lose it.
I was about 40 feet away. I slowly picked up a rock. Having been practicing as a pitcher for our baseball team, I wanted to see how accurate I could be (I was a wild pitcher.)
I wound up, and delivered a fast ball...and hit the bird center mass. It was dead before it knew what hit it.
I was devestated. I gave that bird the biggest bird funeral you could imagine, and buried it specially.
I think about it to this day.
No kiddin’.
Welcome to the twilight zone.
I didn’t watch the video, but thanks for reminding me how much fun I had as a kid shooting various backyard vermin
good one.
I have a bunch of Jeff Beck Vinyl. Went to one of his concerts back in 1980 - the Capitol Theater in NJ. 19th Row seats. I couldn’t hear for 1/2 a week. :-)
Now, breast that thing out .. and hopefully several dozen more.
When you're through with that little chore, wrap each of those breast pairs around a slice of jalepeno and then wrap each of those things in a slice of bacon.
Throw 'em on the grill 'til they're cooked properly and you've got yourself really fine meal.
I kill backyard birds (primarilly crows, grackles, and starlings) because the buggers are usually eating from my vegetable garden or fruit trees. Once in a while I will take a goose from the field, but only if it’s on the wing.
There is no closed season on starlings. They are an invasive species. Shoot at will.
I met a new friend when I was around 12 who invited me over to his house to target practice with our BB guns. While I was shooting cans he was shooting sparrows. They guy was from Laos and was pecking off birds left and right. Each one he go gather, put into a ziploc and throw into the fridge for later consumption.
When I asked him about shooting the birds his reply was that they did this all the time and that back in his country it was as common to eat birds as it was for an American to eat a burger.
He was a dam good shot I must admit. But that settled it for me never to target practice on the birdies.

Thanks.
Relax, it’s a right of passage for young boys who will go on- like you- to value life.
