Is there any doubt who controls most of our beloved Republic?
Last night, as I flipped through the countless television channels available on my satellite dish, I saw:
A BBC America promotion touting "One World" as a slogan and interviews ridiculing a number of conservatives.
A program called "The L Word" on Showtime, depicting two women engaged in "normal" sexual relations.
An endless stream of business channels predicting economic disaster.
One out of three commercials followed a "Green" theme, pushing Environmentalism as if it was a religion.
The Weather Channel talking heads seemed to think man-made "climate change" was the cause of all atypical weather, warm or cold.
Not one, not two, but THREE Home Improvement shows depicting gay "couples" as normal, happy homeowners.
A CSPAN program featuring a liberal author presenting Socialism as a viable "solution" to our economic and cultural woes.
The local university Education channel featured a professor railing against the "inequities of capitalism."
Even Fox News, the channel that "presents the news without the Liberal bias" was running wall-to-wall coverage of Obamamania while giving Geraldo Rivera a platform to blast the evil "nativists" who oppose illegal immigration.
It was nearly impossible, outside of Speed Channel's coverage of NASCAR and a horse show on RFD-TV, to view a program that didn't include a Liberal slant. Endless movies that cloud the lines between "right and wrong." Reality shows depicting the worst in human nature. Countless shows with women as "victims."
I attempted to watch Star Trek Voyager for the first time...within minutes, I received a political message about "the progression of human collective."
Bill Mahrer was on HBO, as he seems to be every night, lambasting anything and everything Conservative. At least three programs on the "educational" channels (such as the History channel), covered the topic of "climate change."
This list goes on and on.
No matter if WE choose not to view the programming, it is real and it is having an impact. News, sports, public programming, movies, entertainment of all types...local, regional and national...all seem to be in lockstep with the "Progressive" movement.
It is more than content fabricated by Hollywood; it is the coverage, the topics and the depiction of every day life that is most disturbing. Of course, we have the option of turning the channel or not watching television..but to where? And, how many in the "Mindless Middle," and young people, are being "programmed" by the Left's dominance of the Media and the Entertainment Industry?
Make no mistake: Conservatives are being marginalized and dismissed. Politically, the Republican Party seems to have given up, if not contributed to, the sequestering of Conservatives to forums such as this.
This election season has had consequences; the McCain candidacy, pushed by the Media and "moderates" in our own party, has done much to dishearten Conservatives and embolden the Left. Fox News has rushed to, and embraced, the "new" demographic of Liberal Republicanism.
What are the solutions? Perhaps recognition of the situation and the advances made by Left in the past months and years is a start.
Who will carry on the cause of Conservatism? McCain? Don't think so. Has everyone, besides us, given up?
The Left seems to be in control of the Media, the Entertainment Industry, the Educational System, the Judicial System, and most State and Local Governments. Liberal bureaucrats are entrenched in the Federal Government. Even "evil corporations" seem to have adopted the ideology of Socialism and the Health Care Industry is looking to the Federal Government instead of the private sector to continue their "gravy train."
When will the madness end? I can click off the power button on my remote control and ignore the situation. But putting my head in the sand doesn't solve the problem.
Got any photos?
**The Left is In Remote Control.**
And BJ Clinton is in charge of the remote! LOL!
If TV is your world, then you will be programmed.
Read the entire article before you flame.
Yup. The Left will stop at nothing. Will we?
We ?
Already have been.
Has everyone, besides us, given up?
Yes.
When will the madness end?
It has only just begun.
The situation is just on your TV.
The next generation is currently texting, ipod-ing, and surfing the net. They care about what's on their own MySpace page, not what old geezers on 60 Minutes are showing on some ancient contraption called TV.
Those kids are also radically more conservative than Baby Boomers. For instance, kids today abhor abortion and can't imagine a video game without a gun.
Each day, TV stations/channels lose marketshare and audience. Each day, newspapers lose circulation.
If something is intriguing today, it will be on YouTube, not network news (for days, anyway).
Take a look at how Obama's campaign texts his supporters multiple times each day with news and talking points...he's bypassing the TV that way...bypassing the newspapers that way...and connecting his followers in real-time.
So while you were spending all of your time last night watching TV, you missed what was being texted...what was being shown on YouTube...what was hot on MySpace pages.
Whose head was in the sand, then?!
TV is your addiction; break the habbit.
“We” as in “Conservatives.” What will we do?
Not a loaded question and not demanding an answer.
Personally, as most of us on FR do, I read a lot, stay informed and engage in conversation with about politics and society when I can. I just wonder if I do enough.
I donated to Fred Thompson’s campaign...but sending money to McCain doesn’t seem to advance the Conservative cause. I write letters to the editor, e-mail news shows, post on FR. I run my life as a Conservative and do just fine.
I just wonder if there’s something else I, and other conservatives, can do to make a difference to fight Liberalism, as opposed to just observing the process.
Agree 100 percent.....:o)
I was a Thompson Hunter fence sitter , donated to both. When they fell so did my hopes, my donated dollar and time to the GOP.
I am a die-hard conservative , lifelong from the very first time I was old enough to vote. My conservative efforts were always best served by the GOP.
They dropped the baby in the bath water this time.
All my efforts now are trying to get congressional control back to the conservative side .
Canceled my cable TV about 3 years ago and got Netflix. Never looked back.
Oh, please, you don’t know squat about me. TV is not “my” addiction.
Television stations, networks and newspapers lose market share because the “pie” is becoming larger, including the internet.
I’m making observations about the content and the coverage of television programs, including news, education and culture. I own an advertising and marketing agency.
The vehicle (TV) is not the focus here...it is the content.
The only thing I see that can wake this country up is something I hope never happens. A nuclear attack on one of our cities by the Islamo-terrorists.
Liberalism and political correctness will become anachronisms. The military will become very popular again. Liberals and other fools and useful idiots of the left will no longer be tolerated. Leaking classified information in major national newspapers will no longer be tolerated. And an American city telling the USMC they are not welcome, will no longer be tolerated.
You may be right. We saw renewed patriotism and respect for the military after 9/11. There was some identification of “good” and “evil”, “right” and “wrong.”
Didn’t last too long.
I try not to be amazed at how little time it took for the Left to use 9/11 and Iraq to attack conservatives, the military and out country in general.
Fine. How does the content on TV compare to the world of human interactions that occur outside of TV?
Barber shop?
Grocery store?
Gas station?
Home search with real estate agents?
MySpace?
Internet surfing?
Texting?
And which is growing faster: internet, TV, or population?
It’s hard to find good movies today.
Again, I could have written about an Internet portal (Google, Yahoo!), newspapers, magazines, YouTube, etc. Even a trip to Barnes & Noble points out how much Liberals control information.
I just finished reading “My Grandfather’s Son” by Clarence Thomas and am readking “Give Me a Break” by John Stossel right now. It was harder to find those books at B & N...the Liberal books are much more prominently displayed!
The content is much the same across the board, no matter the medium, including the Internet.
TV unites the world.
It is the opiate of the registered voter.
You choose between left CNN, left MSNBC, left FNC, or left Alphabets.
We have a FEW personality driven programs but no institutions.
I love TV addicted sure. haha But I use it to blast them with emails and on the other side of the coin I listen to conservative talk radio our last hold out in the media that should be supported as much as possible.
