The situation is just on your TV.
The next generation is currently texting, ipod-ing, and surfing the net. They care about what's on their own MySpace page, not what old geezers on 60 Minutes are showing on some ancient contraption called TV.
Those kids are also radically more conservative than Baby Boomers. For instance, kids today abhor abortion and can't imagine a video game without a gun.
Each day, TV stations/channels lose marketshare and audience. Each day, newspapers lose circulation.
If something is intriguing today, it will be on YouTube, not network news (for days, anyway).
Take a look at how Obama's campaign texts his supporters multiple times each day with news and talking points...he's bypassing the TV that way...bypassing the newspapers that way...and connecting his followers in real-time.
So while you were spending all of your time last night watching TV, you missed what was being texted...what was being shown on YouTube...what was hot on MySpace pages.
Whose head was in the sand, then?!
TV is your addiction; break the habbit.
