Good morning, CG.
So good to see you.

I was happy to see that you are enjoying the rewards of your past work at Amy's Place.
Didn't I promise that your future would be bright?

You kept your promise. Sooner or later I need to write a poem for this picture of my faithful companion, LulaBelle.

Our Friend

She guards the house and waits for us,
Whenever we’re away.
When we get home, she jumps and shakes,
She does this everyday.
It matters not how long we’re gone,
All day or minutes few.
She greets us like she missed us so,
I say, “We missed you too.”
She’ll come to me and stare a while,
As if she wants to talk.
I speak her name, she wags her tail,
I take her for a walk.
She gets excited like a pup,
When we go for a ride.
She never cares just where we go,
If she is by our side.
I must admit she listens well,
And never does she judge.
She tries to keep us on the path,
With just the slightest nudge.
She thinks she’s watching over us,
She thinks that’s why she’s there.
We’ll never tell her differently,
She does her job with care.

The Best Friend
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. —John 15:13

It’s an honor I cherish, and one I seek to live up to—but I don’t always do it. It’s the privilege of hearing my wife say, “You’re my best friend,” which she does often. As much as I love her, though, I occasionally do something that is not so “best friend-ish.”

In reality, no matter how hard we try, we cannot live up to the high standard of being a friend who never lets others down. We all fail from time to time—forgetting to do what we should or simply allowing selfishness to build a barrier between us.

As believers, we take comfort in knowing that we are called a friend of God, and He is a true friend who will never falter. Michael Gungor’s joyous song “Friend of God” captures the wonder of this relationship when it asks, “Who am I that You are mindful of me?”

Abraham was called “the friend of God,” and that friendship was related to his faith (2 Chron. 20:7; James 2:23). Jesus explained how we can receive that designation as well. He said to His disciples, “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you” (John 15:14). There is no better friend, for we know that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Heb. 13:5).

Looking for the best friend ever? You can’t do better than the Lord Himself.

I’ve found a Friend, O such a Friend!
He loved me ere I knew Him;
He drew me with the cords of love,
And thus He bound me to Him.  —Small

Jesus is the only faultless Friend you’ll ever find.

I wish I could join the poets here at Amy’s place & paint pictures with words. Alas, I am only artistic with a pencil & paper in terms of actually drawing the object(s) I’m looking at with lines and heavier or lighter pressure on the paper from the pencil lead & my hand.

I bought a print at WalMart of a little girl drawing & her kitten trying to play with the pencil because it reminded me of myself & my cat (not that I’m a little girl, & my cat is no longer a kitten).

Back to your poem, the needle does tend to go up and down & back & forth a little as it goes across the record.

Good morning, Amy & friends. Haven't been around much, but I'm so enjoying having Amy's Place back again! I think it was a great idea to bring it back.

I still love that dog waiting for the sound of his master's footsteps at the door. :) Okay, I just love dogs!

I’ve saved your picture .... if you can find another Lulu poem, I would love to have MamaBear or Billie make a graphic to use with it.

Have a wonderful weekend of sun and smiles.

Thanks. You have a good weekend too. We’re just waiting for the call to go be with my daughter and son-in-law for the birth of our first grandchild. Today is the due date but my daughter doesn’t want a Leap-day baby so I suspect we may be a few more days.

I’ve been picking the brain of anyone who will listen up till now. At this point the advice coming back is to talk to a lawyer. My dad’s house & assests may not be worth hiring a lawyer to change anything. I am not involved in any groups here since I have been so busy working the last 4 years. And now I’m getting busy with taking care of stuff for dad.

I guess I am very angry that while I was trying to be responsible for my debts by working 2 jobs, girlfriend, who is 51 & 2 yrs older than me, is living off of her late hubby’s GM pension & getting our dad into debt so she can have a 20 acre farm for herself. (Girlfriend married her 1st hubby when she was about 18 & he was in his late 50’s. She was his 3rd wife. They were married about 30 yrs & had 2 boys who are now adults.)

Thank you for the suggestion, everything helps me. I can see that there are more options, choices, etc., for me. Let me know if you have any thing else that can help us.

PAL

Do I Go Home Today?

My family brought me home cradled in their arms.
They cuddled me and smiled at me and said I was full of charm.
They played with me and laughed with me and showered me with toys.
I sure do love my family, especially the girls and boys.
The children loved to feed me, they gave me special treats.
They even let me sleep with them - all snuggled in the sheets.
I used to go for walks, often several times a day.
They even fought to hold the leash, I’m very proud to say.
These are the things I’ll not forget - a cherished memory.
I now live in the shelter-without my family.
They used to laugh and praise me when I played with that old shoe.
But I didn’t know the difference between the old ones and the new.
The kids and I would grab a rag, for hours we would tug.
So I thought I did the right thing when I chew the bedroom rug.
They said that I was out of control, and would have to live outside.
This I did not understand, although I tried and tried.
The walks stopped, one by one; they said they hadn’t time.
I wish that I could change things, I wish I knew my crime.
My life became so lonely, in the backyard, on a chain.
I barked and barked all day long to keep from going insane.
So they brought me to the shelter but were embarrassed to say why,
They said I caused an allergy, and then they each kissed me goodbye.
If I’d only had some classes, as a little pup.
I wouldn’t have been so hard to handle when I was all grown up.
“You only have one day left.” I heard the worker say.
Does that mean I have a second chance?
Do I go Home today?

-Sandi Thompson
