Stray Cat
Oh, what unhappy twist of fate
Has brought you homeless to my gate?
The gate where once another stood
To beg for shelter, warmth and food.
For from that day I ceased to be
The master of my destiny.
While he, with purr and velvet paw
Became within my house the law.
He scratched the furniture and shed
And claimed the middle of my bed.
He ruled in arrogance and pride
And broke my heart the day he died.
So if you really think, oh Cat,
I'd willingly relive all that
Because you come, forlorn and thin
Well... don't just stand there... come on in!

Threats And Warnings
Keep His statutes and His commandments . . . that it may go well with you and with your children after you. Deuteronomy 4:40
God never threatens; the devil never warns, declared Oswald Chambers. We sometimes use the words threat and warning interchangeably, but Chambers saw a principle that suggests a distinction. Threats are used to get people to do what is in our best interest. Warnings are issued to get people to do what is in their best interest. In other words, threats seek to preserve power, whereas warnings serve to protect people from danger.
Satan wants us to think of Gods loving warnings as mean-spirited threats, but he is wrong. According to Chambers, A warning is a great arresting statement of Gods, inspired by His love and patience. The evidence of this is found in the many commands that are coupled with phrases like that it may go well with you (Deut. 4:40; 12:28).
In loving relationships, people warn one another of the inevitable consequences of foolish behavior. In unhealthy relationships, people threaten one another with punishment if they fail to live up to unreasonable demands.
As we interact with others, its good to consider the nature of our counsel and commands. Do we use ultimatums to preserve our own well-being? Or do we lovingly warn others to keep them from harm?

Warnings are an expression of love; threats are an expression of control.

This Old Cat
I’m getting on in years,
My coat is turning gray.
My eyes have lost their luster,
My hearing’s just okay.
I spend my day dreaming
Of conquests in my past,
Lying near a sunny window
Waiting for its warm repast.
I remember our first visit,
I was coming to you free,
Hoping you would take me in
And keep me company.
I wasn’t young or handsome,
Two years I’d roamed the street.
There were scars upon my face,
I hobbled on my feet.
I could sense your disappointment
As I left my prison cage.
Oh, I hoped you would accept me
And look beyond my age.
You took me out of pity,
I accepted without shame.
Then you grew to love me,
And I admit the same.
I have shared with you your laughter,
You have wet my fur with tears.
We’ve come to know each other
Throughout these many years.
Just one more hug this morning
Before you drive away,
And know I’ll think about you
Throughout your busy day.
The time we’ve left together
Is a treasured time at that.
My heart is yours forever.
I Promise - This old cat.

Cherry Pie
INGREDIENTS:
Pastry for 2-crust pie
1 egg
water
4 cups fresh pitted sour cherries
OR 2 -1 pound cans tart cherries, drained, with 1/3 cup juice reserved
2-3/4 tablespoons quick-cooking tapioca
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
2 tablespoons butter, cut in little cubes
PREPARATION:
Combine egg and 1 tablespoon water to make egg glaze. In 9-inch glass pie pan, place 1 piece of pastry. Brush with egg glaze. Keep pie crust in refrigerator while making filling.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Combine fruit, tapioca, salt, sugar and extract. (If using canned cherries add reserved fruit juice. Stir and let mixture stand for 5 minutes.
Spoon mixture in prepared crust. Dot with butter cubes. Use egg glaze to moisten rim of pie. Roll-out top crust to 1/8-inch thick. You may either cut crust into 1/2-inch strips or put pastry on as is. Just be sure to cut vents into the top. Make sure pastries are pinched together. Either brush top crust with egg glaze or milk. If using milk, sprinkle top with sugar.
Bake for 20 minutes and then use foil around the crust edges to protect from burning. Bake for 20 more minutes. Cool on wire rack.
Serve plain or with whipped cream.
Happy Cherry Pie Day!

I like it, I like it, you are the very spirit of Springtime, Amy:) LOL.
It was such a beautiful Atlantis landing. The skill that goes into that is unimaginable to most of us. Hundreds of people work on those shuttle missions and yet it comes down to one man being able to safely guide and steer the ship to a smooth and safe touchdown.
Hats off to Commander Steve Frick who took over the controls from Pilot Alan Poindexter during the last 5 or 10 crucial minutes.
