Rain Drops

As you hear them fall,

Moister in the air, a sprinkle and all

Their sound a symphony,

For you, for me

Pearls of light glistering on the pavement,

Their invisible fingers drumming on my window vehement

Tear drops an emotional call

They signify love, sadness, happiness and all

Emotions are something that we all have

With our soul the Lord to us gave,

A piece of mind to help us shine and glow

Healing our soul if enough of it we show

Through the good times, bad times

In between times

Raindrops

I stand

In the soft

Morning light

To watch the

Gentle rain droplets

Caressing the rose petals

Lingeringly.

Lingering in Happiness

After rain after many days without rain,
it stays cool, private and cleansed, under the trees,
and the dampness there, married now to gravity,
falls branch to branch, leaf to leaf, down to the ground

where it will disappear — but not, of course, vanish
except to our eyes. The roots of the oaks will have their share,
and the white threads of the grasses, and the cushion of moss;
a few drops, round as pearls, will enter the mole’s tunnel;

and soon so many small stones, buried for a thousand years,
will feel themselves being touched.

~Mary Oliver

Courage: Live It
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power. —2 Timothy 1:7

Courage is one thing you need if you want to get God’s work done. That’s what I said when I spoke in a church service in Jamaica. I told the people that according to 2 Timothy 1:7, God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power.

A couple of days later, I stood 35 feet above the water on the edge of the Caribbean Sea. Should I jump off the precipice into the waters below? The teenagers who were with me said, “Yes!” Most of them had already done so. One told me, “Mr. Branon, if you don’t jump, you can’t preach about courage again.” I knew that sometimes the courageous thing is not to go along with the crowd. But this time, I jumped.

Courage makes a good theory, but sometimes we need help to practice it. We have many opportunities to step out of our comfort zone to serve God. When we don’t have courage, we need to be reminded of God’s promise in 2 Timothy, and we need others’ encouragement to take the leap.

Perhaps you need someone to tell you: Volunteer for that job at church—they need you. Have lunch with your co-worker to discuss matters of faith. Or join that small group.

Be courageous for Jesus. Sometimes it takes just that first step of courage to serve our majestic God.

Lord, give me the courage to rise above fear,
Even of danger, because You are near;
I would be faithful to face any foe
While I am walking with You here below.  —Hess

Courage will follow when faith takes the lead.

Your second and third Rain Poems were as beautiful as the first.
The rain kissed rose picture is beautiful and
the flowers you chose to accompany the Mary Oliver poem is stunning.

Thank you for your many contributions to Amy's Place.

Love that rose and all the poems. I was out on errands and made it home just as the first tiny droplets were falling.

Hi Amy. Sorry I haven't been around much, been a bit busy. I did find a cat poem today while googling for something completely unrelated. Now I am looking for good cat photo to go with it. I will e-mail the poem to you, maybe you can find a nice cat graphic to go with it. :-)

Are you feeling back to normal after your bout with the flu? Hope so.
