An empty vodka bottle was also found in a car used by Amritpal Dhaliwal, 19, and his brother, Kulbir, 23, on the day of the mauling, which left 17-year-old Carlos Sousa Jr. dead, according to the source.
The discoveries could be an indication that the brothers may have taunted the 350-pound Siberian tiger before it leapt from its grotto.

And you missed the truth in this whole story and others posted about it. There is no proof these boys were doing anything. The sling shot was in their car. It is all if, ands, and, maybes. Who made an illegal search of the kids car???
Is this true? link?
The zoo undoubtedly had parking rules down, but the question concerns the height of the wall necessary to keep in the tigers!
You’re dog wouldn’t do much of anything if he was behind a 20 foot high chain link fence or wall, but if it was a 2 foot fence, he’d tear some new butt.
In the article I read it says the slingshots were on them at the time. An empty vodka bottle was found in the car. Maybe it said somewhere else that the slingshots were found in the car but I don’t see it.
One of the zoo keepers made the statement that the structure SHOULD have been build in such a way that you could stand outside of it with raw meat strapped to your body without risking harm.
I would have to agree.
There is risk of harm in practically everything we do. Nothing is failsafe. Sometimes we pay for bad choices. That’s life. I wonder how many other people in that zoo that day just happened to have slingshots on them and just happened to be the ones attacked by the tiger?
This same damn cat mauled at almost the exact same time last year. Was the cat in heat? She’s a “breeder” and I heard she engaged in raucious sex with “Tony” a year ago.
Nobody wants engineers on their juries.
Sheesh. What are we saying....people can only have dogs if they put them behind a 20 ft fence?!!
I’m just thankful that God (and my parents) gave me the sense to keep away from agitated or wounded animals.
I’m surprised it took 25 posts to get to a Darwin Award, for bringing a slingshot to a tiger fight.

According to Intrade, the winner of the December 12th GOP debate was... Duncan Hunter.

In this poll Hunter is up 3% and even with Paul and Thompson.

Not even prosecutors?
Yes. And the zoo is going to pay big for their bad choices. They should have made the enclosure secure. But they chose not to and people died.
We are lucky that the zoo's negligence did not harm anyone else.
Sling shot ammo? Who needs ammo when there are pebbles, bits of crumbled concrete, etc. available? Such things would be hard to tell from normal crud in the grotto. Doesn't prove they didn't use the slingshot. Certainly they intended to use it one something or somebody (other visitors, zoo employees, etc.)
What would you suggest would be a good way to protect your puppy from those vile boys roving up and down the street taunting him, upsetting his tender sensibilities?
Well, all of which could have been carried in by SEVERAL squirrels!
I think what people are saying is that those who own or care for dangerous animals should secure them safely so they cannot harm others.
This is not hard to understand. If your chain is not strong enough to hold your rottweiller, you are to blame. If the prison's walls are not high enough to contain an enraged prisoner, then the prison is to blame. If the zoo's tiger enclosure does not keep the tiger inside, then the zoo is to blame.
She was bred in captivity.
Even as a cub, she was noted for her "quick tempered" personality compared to her more mellow siblings"
As a practical matter, there is no telling where an engineer will come out in a deliberation. They consider themselves to be very analytical, and usually will not listen to the reasoning of fellow jurors who are not engineers.
