My husband and I just got back from getting a few “snow-in” supplies, including ice melt. We’ve got enough gas for the generator for about four days, the fridge and pantry are stocked and the flashlight batteries are fully charged, so we’re as ready as we’ll ever be.

I’m in the middle of that big pink area (South central MI) that’s going to get hammered. At least it’s not ice this time.

So busy making bean soup I forgot to mention that your remark about French toast got me thinking and I had a nice plate of French toast w/turkey ham for breakfast. Yum!

Snow coming down, the tree is lit, potpourri simmering on the stovetop, puppies and kitties enjoying their afternoon naps, watching NW Missouri State and Valdosta State football. All is well here in KC.

I love Kentucky, but part of my heart will always be in Michigan. The kids call it home, as they spent their childhoods there. I love the Christmas dinners at Greenfield Village and Zehnder’, shopping at Bronner’s and Canterbury Village before Christmas, and show at Christmas. Those are somethings to really miss, but my southern blood couldn’t take the cold. Although, the last few winters have been mild.

“All is well here in KC.”

so it’s snowing in the northern part of Missouri and it’s just yucky misty sometimes sleety here in the southwest part of the state. Oh and did I mention cold?

I’m going in to work my shift and hoping it all stays north of Harrisburg.

His reply - "The Old Country sucked!!! That's why you left it, remember?"

LOL! I was born in TN, but we moved around and ended up in CT where they had moderate winters. Then I went to school in IN where they had ARCTIC winters and said "the heck with it". Drove South as soon as I got my degree. Got lost when I exited somewhere near Boca and liked it so much I never left. : )

Yum, just did that one last week. I always use my crockpot for that one and throw in a smoked hambone.

Isn't Scotts a wholly-owned subsidiary of the 3M Abrasives Division?

Actually, I love french toast. I usually make it with thick slices of bread I baked the day before. The batter is mostly eggs with a little milk, a big pinch of sugar, a small pinch of salt, and freshly ground nutmeg.
In a pinch I'll MacGyver my own fake maple syrup: Two cups of sugar (or Splenda for a sugar-free version), one cup of water. Simmer until sugar is dissolved and liquid is reduced by 1/4-1/2. Stir in 1/8 tsp maple extract and a small pinch of salt. It's not real maple syrup (what is?), but it's as good as generic store-bought pancake syrup.

So far you seem to be correct. I’m in Lapel (NE of Indy, at SR 13 and SR 32) and we got maybe 1/2 inch today. Currently a very light freezing mist. It’s not freezing on the roads yet, though.

I still have to put the carb back on my plow truck

Your truck still uses a carburetor? I always tell people that "carburetor" is a French word for "P!$$ off, M'seur. I shall do as I please".

Seriously, good luck putting that thing back on in the cold.

Living northeast of Buffalo on Grand Island we have a snowblower all ready to go.

Isn't Buffalo where they have nine months of very hard winter separated by three months of very late Autumn?
