Tolerance means that the other guys can p*** all over your cultural values, but you have to be tolerant of their barbaric ways. Tolerance is a tool used on you so that you come out a loser everytime.

"Do we change classic screenplays because we might offend a few people who don't believe what the writer has written?"

Well not that it's a classic screenplay, but they won't show a lot of Bugs Bunny cartoons these days because of PC reasons or for that matter a lot of old cartoons that we all grew up with and are very fond of.

"Happy Holidays, movie house! Season's Greetings, Emporium! Happy Winter Solstice, you wonderful old Building and Loan!"

IMHO, it is a shame to take away Christmas Tradition from our children. Now, I guess Bing Crosby would have to sing, "I'm dreaming of a white holiday, just like the ones I used to know", or, "I'll be home for holiday", or, even this one - "All I want for holiday, is my two front teeth!"

I'm so glad I was able to grow up with real Christmas songs. I wish my grandchildren could, too.

My granddaughter was singing Jingle Bells. Remember how we used to butcher by singing, “Jingle Bells, shotgun shells, Santa laid and egg.” We, they took out “shotgun shells.” I couldn’t tell what it is now, it made no sense to me but it wasn’t “shotgun shells.” Just saying.

criticized for my ignorance that everybody doesn't celebrate Christmas

Then they don't have to sing along. Simple!

Civil disobediance. Sing “Christmas tree” and get as many other kids to do it as possible.

Additionally, holiday = Holy Day. Ask which Holy Day they are talking about, and which religion traditionally uses a tree for their Holy Day.

Happy Holy Days!

This may be a little off topic, but it goes along the lines of what I have been thinking about all the criticism of Romney’s speech for not including the atheists is his inclusiveness. You don’t need to include the atheists because they will not accept any expression of religiosity, no matter how inclusive or well intended.

It’s important to tell children not to be so open minded that their brains fall out.

I hope this young father speaks up loud and clear! We are
letting them stomp Christmas and everything pertaining to
Christ into the ground, while we meekly just turn away for
the sake of “just getting along. (not him personally, but we as Christians)

Can you imagine the Muslims submitting to changing Muhammed to “that old man” or something like that. I don’t think so!

So what is tolerance?

Slamming Christians, Christianity, and Christian values, at every turn. That is "tolerance."

Something just popped into my head, and it really makes sense to me...

This whole tolerance thing is based on selfishness. Really. Of course, it’s “explained” as just being inclusive, but that’s really not the case at all.

Being Jewish, when I tell someone “Merry Christmas,” I’m happy for them, glad that they’re celebrating a happy time in their lives. When I sang Christmas Carols in jr high school, they were beautiful songs and being Jewish wasn’t an issue (though we were told that if we didn’t feel comfortable singing the songs, we didn’t have to - the teacher was Jewish too). It was a happy time. Being happy for others.

But this new “inclusiveness” means taking away a celebration from some people: Or forcibly changing it. All in the name of making everyone else feel “comfortable.” This is the height of selfishness.

Mark
