One year ago, the now-famous E. coli outbreak arising from contaminated spinach rattled the natural-food industry and gave carnivores a moment of schadenfreude. The story had the heartbreaking elements we have come to dread: A young child eats something mundane and dies a horrid death. Boom, gone. I have (unsuccessfully) treated one such case and rate it as perhaps the most chilling moment of my career. [snip]
Maybe we are taking the wrong approach. Rather than trying to make our food and water ever cleaner, we should focus instead on making sure it's dirty enough to assure our good health.

The triumph of Western civilization is, first and foremost, a triumph of pipes and valves and the fact that water runs downhill. Aqueducts bring fresh water in, cobblestoned underground tunnels move used water out, and, presto, our world is clean.
[snip]
But here is the problem: We have become victims of our own success. Ever wonder why your dog can gobble, lick, and gnaw all he wants along the glorious buffet of a city street and (almost) never get sick? Your dog is used to eating shit.

There's just too much crap out there: human crap, horse crap, cow crap, pig crap.

I tell liberals this all the time. Funny , they don’t think I’m doing it for their health.
Carolyn
We could save money on electricity if we moved back into caves. But we don’t - for the same reason civilization advances when we avoid things like sh** in our food.
Funny.
Not exactly wisdom, but funny.
No cierro Taco Bell.
Hey, this could be another justification for nominating Rudy!

They can try to shove their crap down my throat, but I'm not gonna swallow it anymore.
This post was right behind Hillary’s health plan posting. I thought this was the Hillary equivalent of “Let them eat cake!”.
Well just damn!
They are telling us listening to politicians improves your health if I am reading this correctly. Or is it *believing* what politicians say?
See! Even doctors think we should eat more Taco Bell.
I don't close Taco Bell?
Whether you reralize it or not every time you eat a factory processed chicken from Perdue, Pantry Pride, etc... you are most likely consuming loads of crap. When they chill the chickens after processing they may spend as long as an hour in a rinse that is essentially a "fecal soup". To counteract the effects of this contamination, they are immersed in as many as 40 chlorine baths before final packaging.

I too have read that in more than 1 place.
When our daughter was born we began sterilization campaign for everything and everyone that touched her. When our son we born we had changed philosophies and let him eat dirt on the theory that this article is based on. Well, our daughter has had good health (now in her 30’s) and our son has had the health problems. So, go figure.
No funny when one has had a child become ill from E. coli and had to deal with damages from that for years.
OK. Sounds good. Who’s first?
You mean: No quiero Taco Bell.
