It’s straight out of junior high school.

Actually, some of us were too mature for that in highschool.

It's grade school, and the earlier grades, I might add! : )

Mitt’s votes only cost about $450 each. Fred Thompson got over 200 votes without spending a dime.

Mitt = fewest votes per dollar
Fred = Most votes per dollar

Those are the facts.

So which one would you trust with your tax dollars?

Probably the one who wouldn’t be asleep at the wheel or AWOL when it came time to veto a Congressional spending bill. And probably also the one who would address the American people on the specifics on why he was doing what he was doing. :)

Mitt: 1
Fred: 0

And lets not forget, the one who would support universal health care!

Or, Huckabee ~ some other guy.

Huckabee never has to 'splain to the base why he had to evolve his positions.

...and how well organized they are and what a blessing it would be to have this kind of order in the White House so the right hand knows what the left hand is doing!

There's a reason I don't like Mitt.

“Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts, these guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.”- Governor Mitt Romney

Same reason I don't like McInsane or RINO Rudy. However, Mitt has flipped on this issue a bit. With the right Veep, it might curb his anti-Rights stance a bit. Maybe if someone reads him the Constitution a few times, he'll come around.

My initial thought regarding Fred’s candidacy was that he was colluding with another candidate to kill the momentum from some of the other top tier candidates. Then that thought gradually evolved into thinking that he was legit and was playing a smart game by delaying his official announcement. Now I think this delay of his is more a sign of his inability to organize and run an efficient campaign - not a good sign. I’m getting to the point where I won’t even consider him.

Fred *really* needs to sh&t or get off the pot.

I am finding myself agreeing with you. A couple of months ago, I was very interested in what Thompson could bring to the table. Now, I’m just getting bored waiting. He’s built up so much hype around himself that he’s going to have to come out a rock star, and I just don’t think he can pull it off.

I suspect that we’ll see him fizzle in a couple of months.

If that’s true, that would essentially mean Romney vs. Giuliani.

How much money did Romney spent though?

He has no coherent conservative message, and he flip-flopped again on abortion. He has been stagnant in national polls since the beginning of the year.

I can't wait to see his campaign crash and burn.

Maybe if someone reads him the Constitution a few times, he'll come around.

Romney would have to choose a guy like Hunter as VP to get my support. He needs someone who understands the military and balance out Romney's shaky pro-life and immigration stands, and Hunter is perfect. A Romney/Hunter ticket is formidable, I'll concede that.

~”I can’t wait to see his campaign crash and burn.”~

Just curious, what’s your contingency plan in case it doesn’t?

My suspicion is that Romney will be the next nominee, so you might want to think about it.

Agreed. However, Cheney’s conservatism hasn’t really helped keep GW from exercising his liberal tendencies...

Fred Thompson got over 200 votes without spending a dime. Mitt = fewest votes per dollar Fred = Most votes per dollar

An independent Fred Thompson group paid $10,000 for a table space at the Ames Straw Poll to advance Fred Thompson's position in the poll.

They paid $1,000, not $10,000.
That was the price for a (cheap) table. They were placed next to Alan Keyes.
They raised the money for it on the internet.
And yes, they were independent of Fred Thompson, not affiliated with his (non)campaign.
That’s quite different than Mitt Romney’s campaign that spent as much money for every 2 votes he received. That means per dollar, these guys netted Fred Thompson 100 times the votes as Mitt Romney’s official campaign produced.
