I have got to do something, I really don’t eat that much but make my ‘snacks’ throughout the whole day. Project # 1, cut out the snacks.

I think my great grandparents lived by those rules and they were in their 90s. Desserts were served with supper not hours later. Why? Because they didn't have huge amounts for supper.

Conversation was always part of supper. It was considerd part of the meal.

Wonderful post. Thank you.

That means no sugar or sugar free drinks between meals.

Sugar free means no artificial sweeteners. so Splenda, etc between meals is a no no.

Wonderful advice. Thank you.

Water..water..water....3 meals a day!

When did we stop doing that?

I was raised that way, but I think I strayed from that in my 20s.

My mother NEVER bought soda..It was real fruit juice or water. We had candy Easter and Halloween..only.

I miss those days.

Soda became "popular" when I got married. I rarely drink it.

Cutting out snacks and increasing your food intake at meals will be a great start, Toby.

I grew up like this as well. Then I started listening to all of the “eat small meals a hundred times a day” (okay maybe not a hundred times a day but a lot) and I started gaining weight.

I tried the other ways of eating, like Atkins, Low fat, high carb, etc and I was smaller but miserable. And I was still eating many times a day.

This has been awesome for me and really makes a lot of sense. When you think about it, eating constantly gives the body no time to actually put the food to good use. You’re overloading the system without pause.

This way of eating starts making you feel better in just a few days. Amazing but true.

No Gatorade between meals, Toby. Have it with lunch or dinner if you must. Drink water, unsweetened tea or black coffee between meals. Just try for a week.

Also watch for high fructose corn syrup which is terrible for the liver. It’s everywhere. Cheaper than sugar and corn syrup.

Good morning all........it is still morning, isn’t it? Mostly sunny in Hoosierland....we still need rain in my neck of the woods.

Not...thank you for the “eating right” information.....I will give it a try.....I am a “snacker” also!!!

Lysie, you are right, with moral support we can keep to our diets.

The Army does a lot of good things (besides defending our country!) for people. It teaches accountability and responsibility. What she learns there while aid her immensely when she has her own stables.

Bathroom humor:

I was barely sitting down when I heard someone from the other stall:

“Hi, how are you?”

I’m not the type to start a conversation in the restroomand I don’t know what got into me,but I answered, somewhat embarrassed,
“Doin’ just fine!”

And the other person says:
“So what are you up to?”

What kind of question is that? At that point, I’m thinking this is too bizarre so I say:
“Uhhh, I’m like you, just traveling! “
At this point I am just trying to get out as fast as I can whencomes another question.
“Can I come over?”

Ok, this question is just too weird for me but I figured I could just be polite and end the conversation. I tell them,

“No.......I’m a little busy right now!!!”

Then I hear,

“Listen, I’ll have to call you back. There’s an idiot in the other stall who keeps answering all my questions!”
