Well, here’s a weird one ... I just checked our library records, and the book that was overdue/unrenewable is no longer listed. I guess the library found it!
I’ll have to apologize to the girls for b*tching at them (at least until the next time :-), and we found a lot of interesting stuff under the furniture during the search!

Ah. An unplanned Treasure Hunt! Any “treasure” worth keeping?
When redhead and I were growing up, we never lost any library books. The reason was because we read them too fast. We cleaned out the Children’s library before we entered our ‘teens, and had to get permission from our parents to use the “adult” library. Now THAT opened up a whole new world!!

We were lucky, I guess. Though our dad worked out of town, and our mother didn’t drive, we lived four blocks from “down town.”
Of course, back then, we would walk three miles to the “local” pool to swim for three or four hours, then walk back. Which may explain why my leg didn’t break in March when the bookshelves fell on it.... ;o]

Yes, the good old days! I remember walking or bicycling to the library most places we lived, but it’s not safe here; they’d have to cross the US Highway, which is hard enough in a car.
