NEW YORK A man has sued the maker of the health drink Boost Plus, claiming the vitamin-enriched beverage gave him an erection that would not subside and caused him to be hospitalized.
The lawsuit filed by Christopher Woods of New York said he bought the nutrition beverage made by the pharmaceutical company Novartis AG at a drugstore on June 5, 2004, and drank it.
Woods' court papers say he woke up the next morning "with an erection that would not subside" and sought treatment that day for the condition, called severe priapism.
They say Woods, 29, underwent surgery for implantation of a Winter shunt, which moves blood from one area to another.
The lawsuit, filed late Monday, says Woods later had problems that required a hospital visit and penile artery embolization, a way of closing blood vessels. Closing off some blood flow prevents engorgement and lessens the likelihood of an erection.

Somehow I think the Boost people paid this guy to bring the suit. Talk about priceless publicity...
Rally the troops?
At least the Doctors got to the root of the problem......or was it the problem of the root?

You left out the Phallic Pyrophosphate! LOl!
I can think of at least 2 other ways he could have fixed his little problem, but then no lawyers would be involved...probably.
I expect sales of Boost Plus to double over the course of the next week.
Yeah, like the tv disclaimer saying “erections lasting longer than 4 hours” may need medical attention or something like that ... this should boost (ahem) the sales of Boost Plus off the charts.
I think your observation is perfectly correct: the Boost people have to be cheering this one on.
That said, I knew a young man who got severe priapism. It was very painful and not funny at all. The elevated white cell count they found when he got to the hospital for surgery was the beginning marker of his diagnosis of leukemia, from which he died some years later. Sorry to drag the thread down, but priapism, despite the obvious opportunities, is not a joking matter.
Cheers!
(Slings_and_Arrows is already on board)
Cheers!
"$20,000, 5 acres of farmland, and the deed to the store!"
Here is a picture of the plaintiff.
Whatever the company loses in a lawsuit, they’ve more than made up for it in advertising...
It’s an old saw, but “He died doing what he loved to do.”
Hillary Clinton is the antidote to Viagra. I wonder if the docs tried showing him a picture of The Beast.
If he wins the lawsuit, I sure hope Woods doesn’t get too cocky.
I don't know. That's a hard case to win. It would probably end up with a hung jury. No attorney would take it pro bono.
