Houston-based KBR was awarded an initial $385 million contract in January 2006 for one year, with four one-year options extended into 2007. KBR held a previous emergency detention contract with ICE from 2000 to 2005.
ICE spokeswoman Jamie Zuieback told Corsi the primary intent of the contract was to build temporary detention facilities that could be used in the event of a mass migration crisis, but she confirmed the facilities could be employed in national emergencies, including natural disasters.

I’ve been watching the History Channel. They did a lengthy thing on asteroids and comets, and are now doing The Universe.
Awesome!
I have several voices in my head, as well. My mother’s is usually the loudest.... :o|

July 4. Some of us will be running on the 4th, but I’m not sure who.
As you see, we made it back from the grocery store. Anoreth drove there (only mildly terrifying ...) and I drove back. We needed gas in the Purple Thing, and I didn’t think she’d make it in and out of the gas station.

I’m sure Anoreth took mental notes about the gassing up process. She’ll get it. When she’s ready to, it will be like she has always done it.

I’m glad you mentioned that - I’ll show her how to fill the tank the next time. The gas station we used is in a congested area, and I didn’t think she could turn into the traffic.
It’s scary in that little car, when you’re used to being eight feet up!

"Ill show her how to fill the tank the next time." Be sure to make her cognizant of the danger of static electricity. It is not normally a problem at this time of year, but if Anoreth has ever removed a sweater or walked across a carpet to open a door, I'm sure she will have noticed an electric spark from time to time.
Combine the possibility of a spark with a highly volatile fuel, and an open filler cap, and the consequences can be disastrous!
As an example, there is a safety film from a gas-station camera. They call her "Sweater Girl." Should be 'nuff said.

Anoreth is driving?
So is our son.
*Shudder*
I asked about the 4th because our Countries birthday is the 1st as you know, yet there is some law called The National Holidays Act that stipulates if a national holiday falls on a Sunday, the ‘day off’ will be the following Monday.
How stupid is that?
All the grocery stores are open tomorrow, and best buy too.
None of those people get to celebrate with the rest of us.
I think it’s stupid.
DC, interesting. I tried it earlier, and couldn’t get the page to load.
Thanks.

stipulates if a national holiday falls on a Sunday, the day off will be the following Monday. We have many national holidays that are placed on Mondays, but July 4 still gets its real day.

We just got the car this week, so this is her first driving practice since she had her training class during the winter. If she knew right from left, it would really help! I’d say, “Move left a little,” when she was drifting toward the ditch, and she’d turn right!

Static electricity is a real problem here, most of the year, and people don’t realize it. I try to dress in natural fabrics (mostly cotton) when I plan to fill the tank. Even then, there is a possibility of a spark from the seat cover.

Nixon gave us the Monday holiday thing so our weekends could be cluttered up with extra drivers, drunk or asleep at the wheel, on the premise that it would help the workweek.
How? Whether you have Monday off or Thursday off to celebrate a holiday, you still only have four days of work.

So should Canada Day.
Everyone should have it off.
Except cops.
Cops and doctors and nurses.
Cops, doctors and nurses, and firefighters.
Cops, doctors and nurses, firefighters and entertainers.
Cops, doctors and nurses, firefighters, entertainers and....well you know what I mean.
