Nixon gave us the Monday holiday thing so our weekends could be cluttered up with extra drivers, drunk or asleep at the wheel, on the premise that it would help the workweek.
How? Whether you have Monday off or Thursday off to celebrate a holiday, you still only have four days of work.
Yes, but if that extra day is combined with one or two other days, it starts to feel like a holiday.
