As we settle into the nighttime of despair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Kay - RIP.
In the news...
Russia is planning to build the world's longest tunnel. In a project being coordinated with the United States and Canada, and to which the nations of Japan, China, and South Korea have also expressed an interest in aiding, the Russians desire to build a 64-mile, three-section, highway, rail, power, fiber-optic tunnel across the Bering Strait to Alaska. The tunnel complex would cross the strait and would link to two islands across its route (thus three sections). It is expected the project would cost $12 billion--the Chinese have indicated they will fund a portion, and it will enable the shipment of Russian oil and gas to America..
A court in Montgomery county, Virginia, had found Sueng-Hui Cho, the VT madman, "mentally ill" and potentially dangerous. Specifically, the detention order has stated "presents an imminent danger to himself as a result of mental illness", and "presents an imminent danger to others as a result of mental illness". The court then let him go--allowing outpatient treatment. That was December 2005.
While the Supreme Court victory on abortion really didn't stop the vicious murdering of viable fetuses (read the opinion, sorry folks, its true) insofar as the fetus could still be killed inside the mother and then removed, there is nevertheless very good news in what the Supreme Court ruled. It may be possible to outlaw specific procedures, or even enhance the current law, so the grusome D&E process can be stopped once and for all. The Supreme Court made it very clear the process of abortion can, in fact, be regulated--although it cannot be stopped. The wording hung its hat on words like "viable", "other options", "delivery milestones", and so on. Thus, regulation of the process through appropriate legislation is now possible. The left is crying foul, so they can see this way forward too.
About a month or so ago, the DJIA crashed, taking with it two percent of its total value in one day. The left was screaming this was the end of the economic boom. Yesterday, the DJIA closed above 12,800 for the first time.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
LET'S ROLL!!!
Good morning.
RIP Kay.

Good morning.
I haven’t been online in several. RIP Kay. You will be missed. You brought a lasting love to those who knew you though our fingertips.
The family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. According to the ACS website, donations can be made either by mail, over the phone or through the internet. Please click here to be taken to the ACS website.
Additionally, gifts could be sent to Kayaks church. Please do NOT send gifts to the church for my ministry. Information on that will follow. Send it to:
Scherer Memorial Presbyterian Church
4800 Charlotte Hwy
Clover, SC 29710-8096
Home: (803) 831-7133
Finally, some on ATRW have suggested that memorial gifts could be made to the mission work with which my husband and I are working since Kayak has supported us and we both have been active on ATRW. If that is your inclination, please freepmail me for details.
If I watch any TV, it will be old sit comedy or old movies.
Right now , I'm watching on TCM Callaway Went That Away, starring Fred MacMurray, Dorthory McQuire and Howard Keel.
It's light-hearted. I need the silliness.
Hi, Bev.
Morning, dragging your comment from the other thread.....
IIRC, the manifesto of the Unibomber was eventually published by the New York Times, however there was far more consternation about whether or not it should be printed for that reason. But in THAT case, the perp hadn't been caught yet, so there was potential value for LE.
In this case you have a network with ratings in the tank, throw the entire content on broadcast airwaves immediately, with hardly any thought at all. It scares me that CHO knew exactly how to play the media, and knew what they would do.
This is descipable, and I note that Shep and the Fox crew are already making excuses for themselves.
I hate the media! (That was for you, dear kayak)
There's an article today about 7 states having school lockdowns yesterday. NC is not included but should have been because 4 schools in Huntersville (between Davidson and Charlotte) were on lockdown for an hour yesterday because a 16 yo junior had pointed a gun at 2 students in one school's parking lot, then drove off, and when police caught up w/him at a Citgo station, he committed suicide.
The apparent motive was distress over an ex-girlfriend. Years ago, one of my students killed himself for the same reason.
Son of Professor Librescu is on now and this IS worthwhile...saying the Israeli people see him as an Israeli citizen and soldier reporting for duty and standing in the way to stop the killing.
I think it would be good if there was a memorial to this man, who is the one whose picture we should be seeing 24/7, and NOT the killer's.
Not perfect, but it was a good try back then.
I thought about this yesterday, and posted it this morning on the long thread about the killings, and discovered it HAD been mentioned, but it took over 900 posts before someone made the connection that as an English major he might have been referencing Herman Melville's character in Moby Dick rather than referencing Islam.
Oh good heavens, now Fox has the BODY LANGUAGE guy on.
Definitely.
It used to be that way. Praise the good, often, but be aware of the evil for what they are..evil and then.. let it go.
On local news last night there was a young Asian man who opened fire on people who opened their door when he rang their doorbell,he was placed in jail, and than let go ON BOND!
Last night they showed the Frisco TX neighbors where this young man lived who said in light of what happened at VATech and the fact that this kid said he wants to be a serial killer, the police took him back in jail and another bond hearing is set for today. The neighbors are hoping the bond will be set higher so he will be held and not be a danger to their neighborhood.
More needs to be done to stop mentally ill people like this to be allowed to roam the streets free and allowed to kill.
I called the editor's office and spoke to his assistant, voicing my reasons for outrage.
And this was before the Media circus last night with the killer's video, etc. plastered all over the tv!
My gosh!
If you have similar thoughts, call your paper, let NBC know...We've got to call them on this continuing abomination!
Besides granting the killer the kind of self-glorification he wanted, we're very concerned about copy-cat events, with loved ones scattered around the country at various schools.
I don't think we should hide incidents like this, but dwelling on it does give nutcases ideas.
How Obama reaped big $$$$ Sun Times
I found Saddam's WMD bunkers Melanie Phillips
Right, Said Fred Stephen F. Hayes
People don't stop killers.... Glenn Reynolds
Far too many kids live in a Hollywood kind of world and never think of consequences. Their hearts are cold and they live for immediate thrills.
:(
thanks Jem for your information and help...Got to go to work now. Bye, HOB
As much as I like all night TV, sometimes I wish it would all close down at midnight with the flag waving and the Star Spangled Banner playing.
It might make them report real news not junk because there would be less hours.
