Vista Taking a Nibble Out of Apple in OS Wars?
Apple Slashdot ^ | april 6,2007 | zonk?

Posted on 04/07/2007 11:04:23 AM PDT by aft_lizard

"Despite all of the positive buzz about the Mac operating system and the 'halo effect' of iPod sales, Mac OS X market share actually dropped last month, reports Computerworld: 'The share of PowerPC-based Macs fell ... from 4.29% in February to 3.94% in March. That dip was not fully offset by an increase in Intel-based Mac hardware, leading to a overall net decline in Mac share of 0.3%, to 6.08% in March.' Meanwhile, Vista is rising, the article says, with just over 2% of computers connected to the Internet using the new Windows OS. The figures are from a company called Net Applications, which collects its data from the browsers of visitors to its network of 40,000+ Web sites"

I don’t know if Rove does either (probably not unless independently confirmed).

How does Time Magazine's 2004 Person of the Year profile for independent confirmation?

Rove keeps two computers in his office: a PC for government work and a Mac (his preference) for politics and his Amazon.com book-ordering addiction.

Is that good enough?

That interview was done in 2000. The picture was taken in 2002.

Uh, what is your standard of proof... a Mac sitting on his desk in his Texas Office or a picture of a staffer using a Powerbook Mac in 2001 (that's the copyright date on the website page that links to the picture) which proves nothing about Bush owning a Mac... only that another staffer uses a Mac.

Does Ferrari suck because 99% of the world drives something else? Do Humvies suck for the same reason?

Mac is a “Ferrari” of computers? More like a lincoln town car. Over priced and a piece of crap.

Here is what President Bush said a few days ago -

March 30, 2007 - "I appreciate that soldiers have got a Mac" to communicate with their families, the president said.

Oh man, this has been debunked plenty of times. Especially in the 8-core MacPro thread. Or even any thread comparing MacBook Pros to Dell XPSs.

Higher end Macs are actually cheaper than a comparable Dell.

And let’s not start the “I can build a box cheaper”. Because frankly, that’s not Apple’s target market (nor obviously Dell’s).

You do realize that the site being used isnt going by sales but rather how many computers are actually being used?

I do know this: in the company I work for, PCs are turned over among staff every three years. Macs get turned over every seven. The PC users play with Microsoft Office, Access, Filemaker, and Crystal Reports. To bypass the $70/hr in-house chargeback to the IT staff, PC users will often call a $40/hr in-house Mac user (typically a graphic designer) to assist them with trouble-shooting files and instruction on how to use their own programs.

Be free from big PC makers, build your own and not be beholden to masters from Apple or any other company, only a fool believes owning an Apple or Dell is freedom.
