Time for a new political party [Good luck with all that - Zot!]

Posted on 12/19/2006 5:29:03 PM PST by 9999lakes

It may well be time for a new conservative political party. The republicans have failed, and failed big-time to deliver for conservative causes. They seem inclined to nominate CINO only like Rudy Guliani or John McCain, and neither of those candidates is gonna do one thing for conservative issues.

Said another way, the republicans are part of the problem, and no part of any solution.

But it IS time, to make substantive changes, and the GOP seems not to be part of them.

We have to define and prioritize what we mean by "conservative issues," first. It means too many things to different people.

So what is your plan to take over the R party? Or the D party?

If you can't take over a party (26 percent gets a majority of a majority) you cant get a 51 percent majority to take over the country.

Put differently: Why not try to get 26 percent on the way to 51 percent. You get there faster.

If you expect the government to solve your problem, you are not a conservative.

Government is a disease, mascarading as the cure.

Gresham's law. Bad money drives out good. If you have a piece of paper money, and a real gold coin with the same face value, you will always spend the paper money first. That's human nature.

Bad government schools "for free" make it hard for good private schools to charge a fair price. Bad government police make it hard for private security forces to charge a fair price.

See how it works?

What do you want done? That is a different question than "Who should do it."

plan to take over the party?

well I'm not that person. I'm not going to, and never could.

but I also am done with republican sell-outs too, and ready to vote for a new thing.

Hey! It isn't personal, and it has nothing to do with personal gain. But republicans probably would never understand that.

I have no problem with voting for who ever you want in a primary, R or D. I further have no problem with voting for who ever you want to. The Democrats got into the catbird seat this last election by running at least nominally conservative democrats. DINOs if you will.

Generally, if you want to win, you run to the center. If you want to be alone in a corner, that can be aranged too. Just recognize that it is a losing strategy. Some people get their jollies out of being "pure". To them I recommend "Bigheadpress.com" and the Libertarian party.

Personally, I prefer the term CITOM (Conservative In Their Own Mind). I'm constantly amazed at how much ground it covers...

For the last two years I've been telling everyone who would listen that the first Tuesday in November was a day to stay home. Many did.

So it's you we have to thank for Speaker Pelosi...

I feel the same way you do. I couldn't believe some of the drivel I heard Call In Bowel say on NPR yesterday.

You know what? There's more to being a real Republican than voting twice a year and bitching online whenever you disagree with what appears to be happening to the party. You don't like the GOP? Fine. Work to change it.

No!

THAT i'm done with.

Either the GOP changes ITSELF, or I...I ...I am gone.

Maybe it's just me, but i doubt it, and the gop has HAD their stinking chance.

As far as I'm concerned they are one breath away from oblivian, and rudy or mccain would be the last gasp.

Yes.

You can thank me.

You'll be able to thank me again in the future if the gop doesn't get it's act together, and do it soon.

So good riddance, then! You're sick of the GOP? I'm sick of all the bitching done by folks who NEVER actually join the party, who NEVER get themselves involved in the daily grind of campaigning, who NEVER roll up their damn sleeves and actually work to change the party from within. Go be an independant. Go be a damn democrat for all I care, it comes to the same thing. Go be useless for a different party. The GOP doesn't need the whining lazy-asses any more than it needs the liberal RINOs.

I've thought about it.

You may be right.

It doesn't mean I 'm on your side.

But it may be time to just shut up and do it~!

to hell with you...literally.

Merry Christmas to you, too, pally. If you mean I might be right about actually getting involved in the party and working for change, I can help you out there. If you mean I might be right about you getting out of the party, I'll hold the door. I'm a helpful kind of gal.
