24-7, San Francisco.
Sure, Frank Gore had an incredible game. But ... Oh, dear sweet God we're de-peaking at just the right time!
Oops. I mean 24-14. I forgot the "mercy touchdown."
Double Mercy TD. Jeramey Stevens actually caught one!!
Oh, the humanity!
The worst part is, I only bought beer for the game instead of something harder!
I like Mike Holmgren, but I have to say I'm a happy niner fan right now. Sorry.
You've beat us twice this year. Congratulations, dammit!
I must admit Frank Gore's better than Al Gore any day.
Don't run out and buy a Frank Gore for President bumper sticker though.
It's amazing to me that the niner's still have a slim chance at winning the division (although an 8-8 record is nothing to brag about if they reach that). I didn't expect them to beat Seattle the first time, let alone twice. I actually expected then to be no better than 3-13 this year. They've sure surprised me.
On the other hand, I expected Seattle to lock up the division by now. I can't figure out why they are struggling so badly with all the talent your team has. We'll have to watch carefully what happens in the last several weeks of the season.
Hasselbeck isn't fully recovered, for sure. I think if they'd let Matt rest awhile longer and stuck with Wallace, we'd have clinched by now. And Alexander isn't 100%.
But our porous defense has NO excuse!
The 'Hawks defense played well, but the offense was HORRIBLE. Hasselbeck throwing into double coverage multiple times when he wasn't just throwing it right to a Niner in the Red Zone, receivers dropping the ball when it was thrown to them - especially Branch, and Alexander running like a wimp. Holmgren should be ashamed and embarrassed for putting such a product on the field in a game that would have clinched the division! They should have been up at least 21-0 before SF woke up. I hope SF does win the division. They are the better team.
Well, that defense held Gore pretty much in check for more than the first two quarters. SF had to pull out some trick plays to get in a position to win tonight. If they had continued to play conservative ball, they would have lost. Norv Turner pulled out the stops midway into the third and took some chances. Seattle apparently didn't expect SF to change their play and were not prepared for that. They are still the team to beat in their division.
Thanks for the encouraging word! But Holmgren better have some bigtime practices and inspiring talks after this one ...
Yup. bad, bad night at home. Sigh!
(Kinda felt like the old days! :-) )
Seattle never stood a chance in this one.
Little Known Fact: SF was 5-1-1 in Thursday games going into this one and the one loss was in 1950!
stevens is the worse....he is no "go to" guy to be sure......and its affecting the whole team.....
If anyone can inspire a team it's Holmgren. He did wonders in Green Bay, and before that as a niner assistant. I'm still upset they gave the head coaching job to Siefert instead of Mike.
>>>Oh, the humanity!
Or, oh the hugh manatee. :)
They played Thursday games in 1950?
Great stats! Thanks!
Yep. The bad thing is he catches enough to stay on the field, but the ones he misses ... Oy!
