I have seen the ads yesterday and now today! One is two gay men and the other is two lesbian women. This is a car ad folks and it is nothing more than a car for for gays and lesbians! I'm totally disgusted and goin to tell Lexus I will not ever buy any of their products!
Disgusting!
Women in comfortable shoes with short haircuts wink, wink....
Really, how would one male neighbor know the favorite color of his other male neighbor?
C'mon now....
Just noticed on the TV guide that "Brokeback Mountain" is on HBO tonight. Have not seen it yet.
Thanks for the info. NO more Toyotas. Since Toyota markets to homos that means we are not wanted.
I am thinking this is a deliberately ambiguous commercial.
I am not getting why it is so offensive to the original poster that she called the Lexus people and posted a thread about it.
If I were a business person and thought targeting gays would increase my sales, I would think it was a no brainer. I mean we should all be grateful that two guys weren't making out in the back seat.
Wow did you screw that one up. The idea of the commercials is that the car is parked someplace "neutral" and two neighbors spotted it and are both hoping it's for them.
Yet if the ads WERE targetted to gays its just simple capitalist economic sense.
Gays and lesbians have large amounts of discretionary income and for some reason seem even more fascinated with new toys and shiny things than straight people.
I would do niche advertising if I was a Lexus exec, aiming at big cities along the East and West Coasts.
Not good on country roads or speed bumps..........
And from stop light to stop light, I'll be right beside him for every green one......At about $3,500, my 11 year old Honda is also a bargain...........
I guess I really don't care; but I saw those commercials a bunch of times last night and couldn't figure out what was going on.
Then I realized:
"Oh man, no wonder why I can't figure out what's going on--the commercials aren't really for me--I couldn't pick up on the subtext!"
There's kind of an 'ick' factor there for me: I can't deny it.
I don't understand the current American fascination with buggery....
He wears tan shoes with pink shoelaces
A polka-dot vest, and man, oh man!
He wears tan shoes with pink shoelaces,
And a big panama with a purple hat band!
And one guy just happens to know the other guys favorite color.... Riiiiight.
What's the Manlaw ruling on this?
HEAD ON. Apply directly to the forehead.
"Many people think that pipe smokers are gay"
Well, wouldn't that depend on HOW they smoked that pipe?
Other's what? :)
Hysterical!
Buggerers spend money I do believe. That is the adveretising angle. Plus once a taboo is open people are fascinated. Plus there is heavy political involvement on the part of some gay people.
I have seen and heard this canard repeated many times, and I have now become convinced that it was started and has been perpetrated by gays, just like the old "AIDS is as much a heterosexual disease as a homosexual one" nonsense from the 1980s.
I challenge you to produce a single crumb of data backing this up. From what I have seen, gays and lesbians are in low income professions, like waiters, shoe salesmen, hair dressers, and bus drivers. An extremely small minority is in show business, and this microscopic minority is not to be seen as the average for the whole group.
Study after study has shown that singles hold and acquire less wealth than heterosexual married couples, and since homos by definition cannot be happily married, they go through life in an endless series of relationships, dooming them to lifelong singlehood.

Would also add that 'that' cigar is 'just one' or can be; if it is found in a 'cigar add'.
Otherwise, in Advertising nothing is left to chance. . .word for word.. .eye for eye. . .nothing - is left to chance.
Even 'nothing' means something. . .in an ad/commercial.
Believe the Lexis ad is meant to be. ..'inclusive'. . .
Sadly Alouette, Schwinns are made in China. So no Schwinns.
