SkyLab
America's First Space Station
Skylab is "cool" for a variety of reasons. First, it is a manned space exploration subject. Second, it was a spin-off of the Apollo Programme. Third, it is an example of how to make the most of what you have on hand. Also, Skylab is a story of determination and missed opportunities. In addition, there was a bit of hoopla surrounding Skylab. There were commemorative medallions, bottles, stamps, and other items. NASA intended for the Shuttle to operate with Skylab, but the Shuttle programme was about two years behind schedule. Congressional cuts deprived NASA of the funds to boost Skylab into a higher orbit and replace failing gyroscopes - the station was allowed to re-enter the Earth's atmosphere on 11 July 1979.
Skylab Launch: 14 May 1973. Severe damage was sustained during launch, including the loss of the station's micrometeoroid shield/sun shade and one of its main solar panels. Debris from the lost micrometeoroid shield further complicated matters by pinning the remaining solar panel to the side of the station, preventing its deployment and thus leaving the station with a huge power deficit.
Skylab I: 25 May 1973. Pete Conrad, Paul Weitz, and Joseph Kerwin. The station underwent extensive repair during a spacewalk by the first crew. Lasted 28.03 days.
Skylab II: 28 July 1973. Alan Bean, Jack Lousma, and Owen Garriott. Lasted 59.46 days.
Skylab III: 16 November 1973. Gerald Carr, William Pogue, and Edward Gibson. Lasted 84.05 days.

Yes you have some talent with photoshop, however, I cannot talk to you until after Sunday as it is Official Raider Hater week for us Broncomaniacs.
My father once said "If you can't quote yourself with authority who can you quote?"
We have slovak roots in our family. Lots of names & food that are difficult if not impossible to pronouce!
my dad's love name for me was mala jabba (which I understand means "little frog"......)
Thanks for the pictures, and thanks for rescuing him. I think he's some kind of garter snake, but I don't know the snakes in that part of the country. I'm surprised to hear of one out so late in the year, but if you had a warm day, he was probably trying to enjoy the heat on the paving. Unfortunately, many snakes die that way.
I'm still struggling, but I'm doing better than I was yesterday. I had the energy to clean my gecko cage this morning. I really need to clean the kingsnake cage this afternoon, but that effort might be beyond me.

I'm on conservativematch.com, but I've never bothered to join. I've never found enough women who seemed interesting to me to make me want to spend the money to be part of the site. The big problem is that very few women are close to where I live. While a long-distance relationship can sometimes work, I'm just not enthusiastic about it. I guess I'd join if someone interesting sent me an e-mail, but that's never happened.
One of the funny things about conservativematch.com is that the site's policy is to provide for heterosexual meeting only, but when I ask for a search, I have to specify that I'm searching for a woman. When I was on Yahoo, they would automatically confine my searches only to women. To some extent, I like being able to check out what other guys are writing just to evaluate the competition, but I am frustrated when the default search includes men.
I also joined Republican People Meet at one time, but I haven't been as impressed by it. This site is oriented more towards older people. I receive e-mails once a week or so telling me who has joined, and most of the newly available women are in their 50's and 60's. The thing that bothered me the most about Republican People Meet is that when I visited the site the first time after joining, they made me fill out more profile questions before I could see anything. One of those was income, and I don't like to post my income on a profile for everyone to see.
I think I've already mentioned that when I tried to join e-Harmony, they told me that they couldn't help me. That's not exactly the most encouraging news that a guy can hear.

That was very interesting. Thanks! :)
I signed up (but didn't pay for the PAID membership) for Conservative Match .. a long time ago. Like I said, I appreciate the individual filling out their feelings if things are good/not good for a check with self. So far no one has tickled my fancy enough to put out $$$.
But, I did get my fancy tickled elsewhere (sounds like a C rated movie ???)
Just today I did sign up & PAY (reasonable.. about 40 for 6 months) from RepublicanPeopleMeet and have already gotten notes /input from 15 men.. 10 of which are very interesting to me. As I paid by electronic check deduction, it will be a few days until I can fully use site.
I am ready for some new blood, even though I have a lot of very nice men in my life at this point.
I think it is good to have the income etc. Clears out that area of awkwardness etc right off bat & lets one know if the other person meets their criteria. There are a lot of men & women where $$$/income does NOT matter & there are a lot where it is the first thing checked. And if someone lies, that tells a lot also. For me as a woman to list the meager income is helpful for men. Many men want women to be self sufficient or even support them! One thing that I have learned from the men of "means" that I date..they dont want me to have money.. they want me to be me & appreciate the fact I am NOT married to a job/career at this point.

There seems to be a lot of all ages from the quick survey I have done. Of course at my age, I don't mind the high amt of 50/60s. Currently I am dating guys from early 40s to late 70s.. these are dates/social friends.. not romantic things
I signed up under screen-name there of "Outdoors gal" . I have no objection if my FReeper Friends give suggestions etc. Trying to always be honest, is helpful!
If you want to sign up & need help with photos, let me know.
I see nothing wrong with including income, but I object to the fact that they made me give my income in order to continue on the site after I had created my profile. If they'd said at the beginning that I must include my income in order to have a profile, I'd have the option of quitting the site immediately. They have the right to ask, and I have the right to leave if I don't want to answer. My objection is that they let me create the profile and put myself out there but then forced me to give that information to see the site again. That kind of bait and switch tactic bothers me. I think they need to be open about all of the requirements from the beginning.
Bill
In any case, I'm glad that the site is working well for you. I gave you a few more details in Freepmail, but your profile is very impressive. Of course, you are very impressive as well, so an impressive profile is appropriate. I hope you meet some nice people there.

Dolly, that dog is smarter than some humans.
Ladies, Sick of angel e-mails?
Ok BE HONEST...how many of you REALLY ENJOY getting little angel love notes from every person in your address book? Like the cute wasn't bad enough, THEN they FORCE you by threatening bad luck if you don't send it on to others and back to them to prove you read the email! A vicious circle! Here's my version: CLICK HERE FOR A SMILE (females only can look) |
I looked with one eye open and squinted. Does that count?
lol... it's okay...In the safety of Jim's cyber Living room here we can look safely & NOT get in trouble!
