Freepers please help. This is one of my first posts. I am sorry if I don't do this right! I just watched Battlestar Galactica tonight. I was just sickened by the program tonight where the resistance fighters were wearing suicide belts, blowing themselves up to fight the "evil silons". This is blatant "moral equivalance" situation where Sci Fi viewers were subjected to the "war on terror" equivalance of the "war on Silons" where they try to equate the terrorists to fictional characters on Sci. If this continues, I will not watch Sci Fi channel anymore. Freepers please help ssend a messasge to Sci Fi that that this is not OK!

Tigh took it too far. That's what Tigh does though, he's a man of extremes (thus the alcoholism, and the devout love for the psycho wife, he just can't do anything half way). The first suicide bombing, which targeted only Cylon colaborators, was OK. But when he decided the marketplace filled with random civilians was a valid target he went too far down the slippery slope.

Really, I'm not interested in Battlestar Galacta. Even reading blurbs doesn't hold my interest. Thanks but no thanks.

Thats cool, but I always wonder why those who are not interested in things seem to really want to comment on them rather than just pass on by the thread. No offense intended, just always strikes me as interesting.

I commented based on the supposition that the post suggests getting emotional and raising some action because of the viewer's interpretation of an episode. There are some of us who choose to not watch BSG and stated such in the hope that might calm the viewer's "boggle." :)

1) Has Captain Adama been Rikerized?

I'm not sure what you mean by that.

2) Why would Admiral Adama listen to the Pres-elect after the outgoing Pres raise the (unproven) charge that he was with Cyclons at Caprica? Civilian rule / military rule depends on how active the battlefield is. Here a Cylon suspect wants to put all of humanity's eggs in one basket and he defers? They's have been better off with the first Admiral.

Adama is foresquare against the concept of Martial Law. Remember how well it worked when Tighe was in charge? Remember, Adama insisted that Roslyn give up the presidency when it became apparant that she tried to steal the election. He has principals, and will live with them, even at great cost. Remember his speech during the decommisioning ceremony during the original mini-series: Something along the lines of "Do we deserve to survive?"

3) Why was there still people who wanted to go to only one planet when the news was that the Cylons had vacated the original colonies they called home?

Would you really want to go back to your home, on the word of the enemy saying "opps! my bad!" Remember, the Cylons showed that they had the ability to exterminate the human race, and nearly did it once. Would you really want to go back?

Why did the Cylons come back after detecting a nuclear detonation when that was set off by model 6 who would have downloaded again and told them she did it?

She couldn't have downloaded: Remember that at that point, the cylon "resurection ship" had been destroyed.

Mark

It seems that any SF show today has to be politically correct. BS has the annoying Starbuck (who in any real military society would have been tossed out an airlock without a helmet long ago) and the equally annoying female president.

About the only show I saw that was able to pull off a kick butt woman superior was Babylon 5's Ivanonva. Unlike Starbuck, she was a likeable character as well.

Yet, the physician and the girl did abort the baby. I think you are being kind. The pro-lifers were depicted as being very legalistic, uncaring, and mean -- even spiteful.

ST TNG did a pro abort episode as well. A planet had a population whose genetic diversity was so low that they stole DNA from the Enterprise officers. After discovering that they had identical clones of themselves, Riker took a phaser to them, pompously intoning "we have the right to control our own bodies" or some similar nonsense. The point of the episode was so transparent and so brutally handled that it might well have had the opposite effect of what the writers intended.

Aside from several episodes like these, I liked TNG. I thought (unlike many) that Patrick Stewart played a good role as the captain.

TNG episodes that you can safely skip are:
-any episode having Deanna Troi's mom in it
-any where the holideck goes beserk (they used that plot just several times too many)
-The one where Worf joins a group of fundamentalists (who are trying to keep the galaxy from having fun, of course)

Thanks - there are points forgotten between the long lull. Re: "Rikerized", I meant he's gained some weight (or more probably made to look that way), like Riker from one season to another in the Next Generation.

Re: why No 6 didn't download after nuking Cloud 9, I knew that was the point about the resurrection ship but apparently the Cylons could download on New Caprica. Guess that's a distance thing made anew when they came back?

I appreciate Adm Adama's principles, but if he had reason to suspect that the Pres-elect was a tool and the move to New Caprica foolhardy, he should have maintained defence of his ships. I didn't buy that people would just give up space entirely like that. If you distrust Cyclons enough to avoid the other colonies why think that the new world would be different?

Being somewhat sci-fi fan, I was interested. However, if there is a sign on all posts that say "only like-minded people reply", please direct me to that sign.

I loved Farscape. It's by far my favorite sci-fi show ever. I loved the fact that the bad guys were called "Peacekeepers". And Chiana was totally hot! I'd love to see them do a spin-off about her.Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I saw the episode and had the same reaction. I wrote a letter of colplaint to the President of NBC/UNIVERSAL and you might want to as well. He is:
Mr. Randy Falco
President and Chief Operating Officer
NBC Universal Television Group

Freepers please help ssend a messasge to Sci Fi that that this is not OK!

In a word, it's just a TV show.

And considering that in the long run, political ideologies both sides of the spectrum have been hammered by BSG, I don't have a problem with it.

Then again, if you're that torqued off by it, your television set's remote control has this wonderful button marked "Off."

But don't presume to think for me, nor designate what is "good and proper" to watch.

Just damn.

If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...

He is not. He's just saying he isn't going to watch it anymore and wants us to spread the word that blowing themselves up to fight the evil Cylons isn't OK, which no one else is obliged to do.

Just a harmless advice in my opinion. :-)
