On Monday is the fifth Anniversary that our country was savagely attacked the united hearts of our nation cried out in pain.. Here are a few pix that I chose out of the more than 500 I have on file. Juat wathing college ball highlights on espn, not much else.
One of the biggest differences between pre and post 9/11 flying is that never again will passengers on airliners sit helplessly and watch a hijacking take place. Now that folks know what these evil men are willing to do, they will try to stop them as soon as any hijacking intention is announced. Because of security procedures, we have a reasonable degree of trust that no explosives can be brought on board a plane, so that if someone says they have a bomb, it's likely they're lying to try to keep everyone compliant. Either way, since the outcome would likely be the same, bomb or no, if the passengers don't fight back, I believe that they will fight to subdue anyone attempting a hijacking.

Man, is it insane in this basement. These gigantic ultra-turbo-drying-fan 6000 's are driving me crazy. I can't even hear myself type!

Nope, my bedroom is down here.
It suffered the worst from the flooding (the water heater is located in my closet), so it's pretty much empty until this whole thing blows over (pun unintended). I'm sleeping in the living room on the couch but there's a fan in here, too, so it's not going to be much better.
Hmmmm.....
Poor Phil. Can you sleep upstairs for a few nights? I would think the fan noise would drive you nuts.
There'd be no good place upstairs. There is a couch in the living room up there but it's not half as good for sleeping on as this one (I got a treasure here).
We used to have a blow-up bed, but it's being borrowed by a neighbor who's not-too-keen on giving it back yet. Doesn't matter; I hate sleeping on that thing.
Hmm...sleeping bags, anyone?
Actually, I don't think the noise will be TOO bad. It's kind of relaxing, in an industrial sort of way.
Ah. White noise. Helps me get to sleep too.
Speaking of sleep. Hubby says I have to go to bed now. We're getting up at 6am to take all of our dirty laundry to the laundramat and get-er-done in one fell swoop. Got to get in early to beat the crowd. They got these gigantic machines I can put all my towels and sheets in together at once and it gets everything super clean.
Anywhoo...night!

As a young homemaker, I enjoyed cleaning our house from top to bottom. The trouble was, it never stayed clean for long. Eventually I discovered that if I kept our house reasonably tidy, it appeared to be clean even when it wasn’t. Gradually I concentrated more on the appearance of a clean house and neglected thorough cleaning. This compromise was not only convenient, it was convincing. Sometimes even I was fooled. But on sunny days my clean-looking house was revealed for what it was—dusty and dirty.
In Jesus’ day, the scribes and Pharisees were hypocrites who concentrated on the appearance of holiness while neglecting their heart-holiness (Matt. 23:25). When the light of Jesus shined on them, He revealed the truth about their outwardly religious life. He didn’t say these external acts were necessarily wrong, but they were wrongfully used as a coverup for wickedness. For them, inner housecleaning was long overdue.
Keeping up appearances in our housework isn’t wrong, but pretending our hearts are clean is. Only those who are clean on the inside will welcome Jesus with confidence when He returns. Is your heart ready? Or is heart-cleaning needed? Now is the time to take care of it!

Not a close friend, but a friendly person, Gerard "Rod" Coppolla, whom I knew by telephone, through my frequent calls in the past to the shortwave radio program he produced, "The Right Perspective" which was on WBCQ. Once he said his mother had the same first name as mine - Sarah. When I tuned in the show on Friday, Sept 15, and it was announced that Mr. Coppolla had perished in the North Tower, it added more shock, anger, and sadness to what I was already feeling. Those thoughts and feelings are always just under the surface, but this weekend they occupy my mind vividly.
