Txrangerette, this is a follow up to your #558 to me, and my response to you in 608. You asked me, "Why are you accusing FReepers of wanting him held on nothing and of ignoring the Constitution?" Not all FReepers, certainly, but a surprising number of them who are posting on the JBR threads. Following are two more examples of people who express exactly that to go along with the prior example I sent you in #608.

stultorum in 622: "Anyway, this JMK character is a very sick dude and should be locked up."

Dianna in post #651: "But it sure would be nice to find something to lock this guy up for. He's just darn creepy."

I am not defending Karr or his behavior, but observing that we don't lock people up in this country because they are "sick" and "creepy." We don't toss away our Constitutional protections because some DA in Colorado is an incompetent boob, and the news media can't restrain themselves long enough for cases like this to sort themselves out.

It was in California, in Petaluma - the little girl's name was Georgia. It happened long before he ever got the notion to move there - and he hadn't been there before.

When it first came out, the media was saying he had criminal records in 4 states - AL, GA, CA and they said "even TN," lol. I guess it was funny because he had never lived there.

Odd thing about it, it was Karr himself who had either said that or written that to Wendy Hutchens or to Tracey - and the more responsible media took another day or two and ran all the records they could and didn't find a single thing on him. He made that up.

I'm sick of the Colorado D.A. getting villified for bringing Karr back to the U.S. Frankly, I'm happy that this sicko isn't praying on children anywhere in the world anymore.

His email claims of knowing far too much about the murder, his admissions of being in CO and handwriting similarities made the D.A. think she had a viable suspect. Her big mistake was not getting his DNA serrupticiously.

I'm more than willing to give the D.A. a pass on getting this freak show off of public streets anywhere. At least he's being transfered back to CA to face the child pornography charges he skipped out on years ago.

I'm not certain that this term applies to Karr, but on one of the crime shows the other night, a person was diagnosed with "factitious syndrome" and was similarly taking blame for something he hadn't done.

It's similar to Munchausen's and often relates to people faking an illness, but extends to people who lie to make themselves either victims or heroes in grand schemes.

The depth of detail is what distinguishes them from regular bald-face liars and the extreme attention-getting "reward" they try to achieve causes them to go to any lengths to convince others they're telling the truth.

My wife thinks John Mark Karr is channelling Patsy Ramsey,
who most likely did murder JonBenet.

She certainly did write the random note.

Thanks for the explanation of what may be the mental defect afflicting Karr and people like him.

What strikes me the most about the whole Karr episode is the fact that the Boulder DA actually took that professor seriously. He had already fingered several men as the killer before ratting out Karr.

I think that professor is also quite strange. He seems equally obsessed with the Ramsey case as is Karr, only in a different way. Karr seems to have some sense of guilt for her murder, and desperately wants to convince others of it. The prof seems to want to be the big hero who solves the case.

Speaking of which, this is a case that will likely never be solved. Everything we in the public know of the case suggests the child was killed either by a family member or someone very close to the family, not an stranger.

I absolutely agree!

Here is my statement (that you quoted): "But it sure would be nice to find something to lock this guy up for. He's just darn creepy."

Did I say lock him up JUST BECAUSE I don't like him? No. We've got his DNA, we know he's weird, we know where he has lived, we know places that he has worked. Run the DNA through databases, look into unsolved cases and maybe we'll find that he's progressed beyond pictures.

Tracey really didn't know as much about the nitty-gritty of the case as he tries to project.

That's why I was glad I found a good group of people (except for a few bad apples) to bounce it off of when I started looking around online about it. I was 3 years late to the case online, even tho I had followed it whenever it was covered somewhere else.

We were good at distilling things down to their essence, after tearing them apart and living with them for long periods of time.

I saw an article yesterday in one of the CO newspapers, or maybe the synopsis of the Natl Enquirer online, lol - that went right down the list I had posted as to what Karr was lying about those first few days. They even used some of my sentences.

Now, that's like the "old" case days. Webforum owners on TV, media lurking on the forums ... that's fun.

What *isn't* fun is knowing more of the fine details than the DA. Uh-uh. Nopey nope - should NOT happen.

It was a joke. California is known for normalizing abnormality.

Then it'll be county jail time, no state prison.

there really wasn't any DNA, except a minute trace on her underwear, which they said could easily have been placed on the pants by "Inspector #5" at the factory

LOL

I don't think he ever confessed to the murder. He said he was with JonBenet when she died. I think he meant only in a spritual/emotional/loony sense.
The guy was/is connected to the murder only in an emotional perverted way.
Anyway, this JMK character is a very sick dude and should be locked up.

What an embarressment for the Colorado Prosecutor's office, like everything else from the getgo in this case, it's so badly mishandled.

Unfortuately I think we'll never see justice for that little girl - but let's hope this perv is locked up on other charges in CA.

>>>Watched Hannity and Comlmes tonight. They had a forensic psychiatrist on and he said he read transcripts of what Karr said. He said that Karr said he still was in contact with Polly Klaas. She comes to him as an angel. CO should have known this guy was a nutso.>>>

John Mark Karr is insane.

What is the Boulder DA's excuse?

I agree. I also agree that he needs to be further investigated now that his DNA is on file. Anyone with a brain could tell that he was a nutso from the pics on the news. The DA should have just had him monitored from Thailand and checked him out more before going to the expense of bringing him to the US. Now if CA pays for the costs that is another thing. They probably will - maybe not and the people of Boulder and CO will be stuck with it. That psychiatrist on H&C also said that Karr said that he thought Patsy did it and he was just going to protect her (as a mother)

Wasn't it also stated that the DNA found in the (new) panties could have come from Inspector #5?

What a load of crap. Jon Benet was raped with a paintbrush, therefore the parents did not do it? That's one hell of a leap of faith, hon.

You were so anxious to exonerate the Ramseys you did not wish to listen when people like myself were telling you the evidence was not in yet. And now it is, and now everyone knows what the rest of us knew all along: John Karr was so obsessed with this case he felt it necessary to insert himself in it.

Now, I think you owe us an apology.
