We the poets of the Lair, thank all who support us.

We hope to be here a long time, singing our songs
riding the stars, writing our own visions, and best of all,
loving all who continue to lurk and visit here over the years.

We write of love, we write of war,
we write of sorrow,
we write of Knights and Kingdoms from before,
we write of drawing down the moon,
scarlet robes, and gossamer, kismet, serendipity, serenity,
and days of grace, filled with woodsy space
ancestors wrinkled ragged and bold
horror stories from our own past
hauntings from the bog with screaming banshee
voices on the wind
and of the wind loud and sassy
tinkling brass, silvered nights with star strewn paths.
We write songs of happiness, songs of grief
songs of anger and relief.

Our poets take pictures along their walk
post them here for all of us to gawk
and ohh and aw about the mystery of another land.

With all of life's hard times, pushes and shoves
we poets remain above the fray to write
in the sunlight of another new day,
and take a chance on a little romance
in The Land of Glen Gaul Way.
And know that in the dead of night,
WayzataJohnn will be stopping by to steam up the Lair
with a senusous poem, or tell a hair raising tale from
his life as an Navy Vet, a Cowboy, a Husband, and
best of all a very good friend of all of us here.

Morning Knitting, these are great! I love 'em, laughing out loud.

Especially, "Song Sung Blue."

Hi, Feathers!!

I Meant To Do My Work Today
    -Richard Le Gallienne

I meant to do my work today,
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree,
And a butterfly flitted across the field,
And all the leaves were calling me.

And the wind went sighing over the land,
Tossing the grasses to and fro,
And a rainbow held out its shining hand--
So what could I do but laugh and go?

Afternoon to you.

I meant to do my work today, too,
I have truly tried
the horror of today's news
has left me stupefied.

It's a lovely day today
the sun is shining bright
leaves of red on the ground
all within my sight.

The cobwebs have been swept away,
when the sun shines I can see them
the trash hauled out, the papers bagged
for next recycle day, in my tidying up the manse.

The brother stopped round for coffee
on his daily rounds
Today's errands for him included selling,
quilt tickets for the church.
I bought six of them, sure hope I can win
the black and red scrappy quilt will sure look
great in someone else's den.

I hope my words do not depress a reader on this thread,
but I must express the world I see, is in a awful mess.

Now I must move on to do some chores before the day is gone
A walk in my back yard will do for a change of scenery
a warm sun beam or two, on my face today.

The new school shooting is the bad news you refer to? I haven't caught all the news lately, but it seems the quickest copy-cat crime to be repeated that I ever remember. Did they get today's guy dead or alive? I'll have to take a look . . .

It's good he committed suicide! He saved the state a flipping fortune in court costs!

True.

I was thinking about the kids who are wounded, their parents, and the kids who were murdered.

This heinous thing happens way too often. Our blossoming information technology is both good and bad, bad in that it brings out the nuts and the copycats, good in that it's easier to track down bad spinach.

If we were allowed to torture men like that son of a bitch who killed all those children today, I'd be sad he's dead. But he did good. He offed himself and saved the state a few million in handling costs.

God bless and keep the children and their families.

Today is National Techie Day!!!!!!

How Much Can You Give?

A driver is stuck in a traffic jam on US
Interstate 95 south, just outside of Washington DC.
Nothing is moving north or south.
Suddenly a man knocks on his window.

The driver rolls down his window and asks,
"What happened? What's the hold up?"

The pedestrian says, "Terrorists have kidnapped
Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton
and John Kerry. They are asking for a $10 million ransom.
Otherwise, they are going to douse them with gasoline and
set them on fire. We are going from car to car,
taking up a collection."

The driver asks, "On average how much is everyone giving?"

"About a gallon."

That's funny. Have you heard this one?

A truck driver was in a bar in Washington State (near Microsoft's main campus). He was talking with the bartender and drinking his beer when, suddenly, a geek walked into the bar. Without hesitating the bartender picked up a shot gun and blew the geek away!

The truck driver was shocked and said "I can't believe you did that! You just killed him." The bartender was unperturbed, he said "Oh, they're in season now, so it's no problem to blow them away."

The driver was amazed. He finished his beer and got in his truck and drove down the road. Suddenly a car cut him off and he swerved, his truck rolled and all the contents fell out. He happened to be hauling computers. From every direction geeks started swarming in and pillaging the driver's computers.

Remembering what the bartender did, and unable to let his cargo be taken, he whipped out his shot gun and started blowing away geeks! Immediately a sheriff's deputy tackled him from behind, cuffed him, and threw him into his squad car.

The truck driver pleaded "But I thought they were in season!"

"They are", replied the deputy, "but it's illegal to bait 'em."
