This is different.

This post isn't about what I have gleemed from some 'news-source' today. This post is about HOW do you convince your friends, your family .. your loved ones that "There Is A Crisis" in America and that this crisis continues to grow, each and every day..regardless of whether they believe it or not!

The only thing that any of them believe in is: Our Government.

I would like to give you the whole story, how I have tried and finally given up, given up in trying to convince my family, my loved ones that we are at war. Not at war from Just Muslims that want us And the world to convert or die but also from a Government who is no longer "Of the people and for the people" but are only for Their next time at the election polls.

We are Not Only being over-run by a third world country, We have a two party system, (read: Monopoly) that not only knows it but .. is allowing it!

Treason and Political Cowardness meets us .. All of us who care 'and understand' that our future .. Americas future, is at stake.

So How do I, Just a regular guy, make these points clear .. to those who's only concern is .. Tomorrows Box Scores?

My advice: Turn your back on them, stock up on survival supplies, get a gun (or several), stock up on LOTS of ammoa and practice, practice, practice.

I find that persons argue over symptoms instead of foundations. I ask them for their foundations; first, what do they believe government should do. Then I compare that to our constitution.

Many times I end up asking, "so, you know virtually nothing about our constitution?"

I've done that with some lefty friends, who then proceed to make up their own version of the Constitution to fit their personal prejudices. Whether something is in the Constitution or not, according to them, depends on whether it supports their agenda or not.

First of all quit using the word crisis. This word is so overused today that it does not carry the meaning that it once did. Today it simply means the big news story of the moment with a connotation of possible danger.

Here's your answer: don't give yourself the headache. Accept them for the flawed and deluded people they are. You have to let them continue in their ways until they can't reconcile the cognitive dissonance anymore. At that point they will change with no effort on your part. By trying to convince them, you will only retard the process by making them dig in to their delusions and hold onto them all the more tightly.

You might be able to change the mind of the committed but you can never change the mind of the should be committed.

It is up to you to decide if you want them in your life. As for me I don't want to closely know anyone that does not get it. This is a different world we live in now and I have no time nor a heart for anyone that does not put America and our freedom and liberty ahead of touchie feelie leftest thinking.

There IS a crisis and it did not just begin on 9-11. It began long before that, if they did not care about our Marines when they were killed in Beirut, Pan Am flight in 1988, the first World Trade Center bombing, the USS Cole attack etc. then 9-11 is just another day for them to blame the USA for not being nice to Muslims. I want nothing to do with human beings that don't get it. I just don't let them into my personal life, even if they are family. Nope, not any more. Our troops don't deserve people like that and neither does America.

It looks to me like I have made a mistake.

Even though I have been a member of Free Republic for some time now, I didn't realize that posting about my concern for family and friends and the ignorance that They and Society in general has adopted would brand me as .. chicken little, delusions of grandeur and, of course, my favorite .. "an anal probe". (didn't it use to be anal retentive?)

Allow me to give you some more descriptors for this posting: cry-baby, wuss, candyass, jerk, momma's boy, girley man, butt spike .. I can think of more but .. To hell with it .. Take your best shot.

Maybe you will wake up someday and realize, None of this is funny.

Few of the replies were what I'd consider put-downs, most had a useful thought while not being lengthy.

Addressing your original, valid concern, most of us want to find better ways to communicate truth and a sense of urgency to the naive, apathetic and ignorant--in competition with those powers-that-be that have vested interests in keeping people naive, apathetic and ignorant.

Best approach I've found is identifying what is important to people--by observing and listening--then showing them with examples how they gain or lose according to principles of conservatism. Small doses, over time rather than big doses--except when they clearly want more information. Read The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin and How to Win Friends and Influence People.

Yeah unfortunately I think most of these posters on this thread are correct; there is nothing you can do about your friends and family. If they want to stick to their childish and hypocritical notions, there's nothing you can do about it. I point out the obvious contradictions in everyday conversations with them and laugh about it a little, but I don't push it like I used to. When my sister tries to needle me about "those poor Palestinians" and "free health care" I just ignore her and treat her comments as sophomoric.

I've just decided to take all that energy and instead learn Arabic, read up on military history, prepare my family, etc. (Haven't gotten so far as to buy and learn how to take care of a gun, I'm a little too klutzy for that and would probably shoot myself in the foot! :) )

Actions speak louder than words. Perhaps when they find out I am doing all this stuff they will take this more seriously and realize that this is for real. But then I wouldn't hold my breath either...

You hardly ever post anything and since you haven't been here for even two years, yet, post almost nothing at all, with many months between postings, I suggest that you forget posting completely and read FR.
