I find that persons argue over symptoms instead of foundations. I ask them for their foundations; first, what do they believe government should do. Then I compare that to our constitution.

Many times I end up asking, "so, you know virtually nothing about our constitution?"

I've done that with some lefty friends, who then proceed to make up their own version of the Constitution to fit their personal prejudices. Whether something is in the Constitution or not, according to them, depends on whether it supports their agenda or not.
