And then there's jesse jacksons point of view. Reward the girl whether she lied or not--she must have been a victim of racist something or another somewhere along the line.

It's an excellent article. She has this exactly right. When Estrich isn't being crazily partisan, she has a fine, legal mind. And she has come a long way on this case. Nifong will have a problem in the legal community after the dust has settled.

"And what would have happened if the District Attorney had waited to go to the grand jury, followed the identification procedure, let the test results come in, found out about the boyfriend and investigated enough to learn that one of the suspects had an airtight alibi?"
He quite possibly would have lost his reelection bid conveniently held just weeks prior to the DNA tests coming back negative.

Headline should be:
Susan Estrich pens for Newsmax!
Carl's looking to be politically correct and diverse?
To: flixxx
Boy Estrich really nailed this one down. I usually d/n care for her viewpoints but she does understand the ramifications of this travesty over in RDU.

Susan Estrich has got this right and it seems to me that Nifong is possibly guilty of prosecutorial misconduct.

She's written an excellent article here. Thank God I can see and read the print version rather than having to listen to her voice <<>>

Susan Estrich finally realizes that Nifong is the enemy. She was taken in by him. It would be funny if it weren't such a miserable debacle.

She is pointing out some of the more obvious facts that should have stopped this case cold. But notice how she mentions nothing about the AV and the glaring inconsistencies in the AV's stories. Moreover, it is not just a matter of not following procedures: Nifong's motives are at the heart of this miscarriage of justice as they are whenever a prosecutor ignores procedures, knowingly distorts information, deliberately withholds evidence, plays to the prejudices of possible jurors and pursues an indictment without sufficient evidence.
Yes she has come over to the "right" side, but only just.

I may have missed it, but did Estrich say anywhere that she believes a rape never occurred?

None of this means the woman is lying. No, but the fact that she gave 5 contradictory statements that are also contradicted by evidence DOES mean she is lying.
Estrich is trying to keep the false accuser out of the loop - she says it is the fault of the MAN!
A woman is never responsible for her actions. It is only man who can control their actions and must behave perfectly.

Well okay--I'm completely blown away! Susan Estrich has come around...Can Wendy and Nancy be far behind?
I guess if one believes in miracles.

Time for a pool. Pick a date. This case is gonna be dismissed. There will be no trial. Not ever.
To: flixxx
Maybe Susan could have been a bit more direct with Mr. Nifong as was Colonel Nathan Jessep to Lt. Daniel Kaffee in
A Few Good MenPlease tell me you've got something more, Lieutenant. Please tell me there's an ace up your sleeve. These two marines are on trial for their lives. Please tell me their lawyer hasn't pinned their hopes to a phone bill.
To: flixxx
Actually this is Estrich reacting to what we now know was the incorrect date story in the N&O. She may well back away from this.

In a satisfying case of life imitating art, LieStoppers has learned that a grass roots group has filed with the Durham County Board of Elections to form a Political Action Committee to campaign for Lewis Cheek.
As additional information becomes available, we will comment further.
