On August 4th, we found out that Lenovo Group, the company that has taken over IBM's Personal Computing Division, had made a deal with Novell Inc. to preload SLED 10 (SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop) on its ThinkPad T60p mobile workstation.
For the first time, a major OEM (original equipment manufacturer) has committed to preloading a Linux desktop.

Actually I'm using BSD and Solaris on the desktop right now. They're no sacrifice when compared to your foreign Linux either.

The ltmodem driver is available in Mepis, you just have to install it with Synaptic.
For the record, most people who compare Mepis and Kubuntu head to head usually like Mepis more. I've used both and can say the same. Of course, if you like Kubuntu, then more power to ya.
Right now, I have Mepis 6 on my office computer, as well as my laptop, which is fully configured for network, wireless, and dialup. Pretty cool.

It's a personal decision to support America and Americans, instead of China and Chinese. I've always been suspicious of "Buy American" and believe it hurts us in the long run because it breaks the basic rules of economics (capitalism). If American products are inferior, yet people keep buying them, then the businesses have no incentive to improve. Meanwhile, foreigners will be forced to make better products to convince the "Buy Americans" to buy their products.
Our products will be more inferior, theirs more superior, and our industry will lose in the end because you can only hold off the laws of economics for so long. And it's not only internal, because other countries will buy other foreign products when ours suck, thus our exports go down.
Of course, if you want to "Buy American" you can always go with IBM, Red Hat, Novell, Cisco, TiVO, Linspire, Oracle, MontaVista, Terra Soft Solutions, etc., all American companies.

I never said using Microsoft products was a sacrifice, because I don't agree with his opinion Linux is superior, nor do most people. Deal with it.
