I love Robert Frost.
Dostoevsky has some anti-tree-cutting stories in his "for children"'s works that you'd love.
For the record, I love the smell of freshly cut grass. But just in patches. I also love meadows. (But I hate all biting, stinging bugs. Dilemma.)

These are classic... 17. PREVENTION OF GUN ACCIDENTS
There has been at least one shooting
caused by an irate reaction to
the noise of the lawnmower.
(Above are reasons 19 through 36)
18. PREVENTION OF MENTAL ILLNESS
Is it a form of control freakdom
to want to mow down what God
greengrows?
19. PREVENTION OF NEIGHBOR FIGHTS
Countless fights have been caused when someone's mower cuts down
his neighbor's flowers or shrubs.
21. BOREDOM Lawns are boring.
...and where you officiallyofficially lost me.

Hitler Was A Vegetarian
by Joel Mabus
(1988)
...Remember when you told me we were what we ate?
Well, I've thought about that, darlin', and I'd rather be an animal
than slowly vegetate.
So next time you skin potatoes and you gouge their little eyes,
Remember this before you start to sermonize:
Hitler was a vegetarian, don't you know? ...

I'm not a vegetarian because I love animals. I'm a vegetarian because I hate vegetables. I want to kill them. I want them to suffer and to die. And then I want to eat them.
You, however, are a certifiable kookburger, LOL!

That was one of the SLOWEST Zots I have ever seen (no offense to the AM). I was going to register IB4TZ, but mine was post #166, so I figured the mods were going to let it go...

I'm with you - mowed grass is butt-ugly. Fortunately I have neighbors who agree with me so we have lots of wild turkeys around to eat thanks to the cover we provide by not mowing ['cept once a year to keep the meadows open], while all my neighbors with mowed grass must sneak over here to try to poach and risk getting shot for their efforts... ;-D
