QUICKVOTE Do you believe your community should follow the example of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, in cracking down on those who hire and house illegal immigrants?
Yes
No

It's true that many of the illegals are Mexican. But there are a lot from other countries - Ireland has a surprisingly high number.
Many of the illegals from all countries came here with valid visas, and just overstayed. Many people think at least half did that.
And it's true that a lot don't really want to become Americans. They just want to work here until they have enough money to live in their home country. Did you know that there are large colonies of American retirees in Mexico? If Mexico was such a "hellhole" (have you ever been there?), why do so many American retirees move there?
I have been to Mexico. The resort areas are fine (Including the retirement enclaves). The country as a whole is corrupt and businesses cannot create jobs or people even start a business with out knowing someone and bribing the right people. However, I do think we should have the same immigration laws as Mexicos'

I was referring to CNN somehow fixing the numbers so that it won't look so bad.
I agree that Mexico has a real problem with corruption and lack of property laws. Those are probably the biggest reasons why they don't have a good economy. Fox made some progress, and Calderon might make more.
Many of their immigration laws are tied into the corrupt system. Just a few years ago (and maybe still) foreigners couldn't buy property there without paying off a Mexican. I don't think we want that. Stifling the economy is not a good idea.
We need to make immigration laws based on what is best for our economy. That's all that matters. If America is prosperous, and each of us can thrive to the best of our ability, then I don't care if other countries have different laws or customs than we do.
OK, then it's the same way I remember it.
BTW, it isn't hard to find a Mexican who will allow you to buy a property in his or her name and lease it back. I never was that trusting. :-)
"I don't care if other countries have different laws or customs than we do."
Sharia law and custom perhaps?
Hazelton already getting sued over their policy.

Sure, if that's the way they want to live. But not for us - any of us.

"But not for us - any of us"
Already proven that the islam-o-fascists want to kill or convert everyone but the Jews. Jews will just be killed. If we do not protect our borders, particularly with mexico, the terrorists will come here. Open borders kill any country. Tom Tancredo and Michael Savage are right.
Over 9600 votes and still at 96%. The OB-Bots can't stand it!
The Islamic terrorists do not come over the border with Mexico by foot. Most of them fly here with visas. Some overstay; others just do their damage during their legal stay.
The illegals who cross the Mexican border are people who want to work or drug traffickers.
Don't get confused about the different classes of illegals, where they come from, how they get here, and what their intentions are. That just makes it harder for us to minimize the damage they can do to us.
"different classes of illegals"
Illegal is illegal.
Enforce the borders.
End catch and release.
No welfare or social services for illegals.
Build the damn wall!
The numbers of illegals will be whittled down.
"overstaying their visas" is still a crime.
Their values are not our values in too many cases.
In too many cases, it looks to me like the illegals want to turn this country into the same sort of sh*thole they left with their brand of crap in charge.
And that is all folks.
You don't get it. You're reacting to "knee jerk" slogans.
Most of our illegals overstay visas. How would a wall stop that?
Our hysteria is about Hispanic illegals. But the terrorists are usually Muslims. How would prosecuting Hispanics stop terrorism?
What is it that you want to do? Keep all illegals out? Does that include the high tech workers, many of whom are European? They didn't get here by crossing the Rio Grande.
Or do you want to keep out the workers who fill seasonal jobs that Americans really don't want? Who would you propose would do that work?
Do you really think that a Hispanic who comes here for a job is the same as a Muslim who comes here to be a suicide bomber are equivalent?
Give up on the slogans, and think the problem through.
