Phone use spans time of team party
In the middle of a Duke lacrosse party where a dancer said she was gang-raped for 30 minutes, a call was placed from her cell phone to a Durham escort service.
The 12:26 a.m. call to the service, Centerfold, lasted one minute, according to a copy of her cell phone bill reviewed by The News & Observer. It is unclear whether the call was a request for another job, a cry for help or something else, or even whether the accuser made the call herself.
But the accuser's phone records add some details to the chronology of the March 13 party, a drunken spring break bash that spawned a national controversy.
Neither prosecutors nor defense lawyers would discuss the phone records Tuesday. Neither the accuser nor a second dancer at the party could be reached, nor could representatives of Centerfold. Police Chief Steve Chalmers was out of town; his spokeswoman said he would not discuss the case.
Three players have been charged with first-degree rape, sexual offense and kidnapping: Reade Seligmann, 20, of Essex Fells, N.J.; Collin Finnerty, 19, of Garden City, N.Y.; and Dave Evans, 23, of Bethesda, Md. Lawyers for the players have proclaimed their clients' innocence and said no rape or sex occurred at the house at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd.
District Attorney Mike Nifong, whose handling of the case has undergone national scrutiny, has been adamant that the woman was raped at the party. Nifong has not given a precise timeline of when he thinks an assault occurred.

Glad you posted that comment from N&O...
I am still snickering.
Good for you. That party can use more sensible people. I got your e-mail. Will respond over weekend.
Correction:
The other lineup I was thinking of with the post it note was the one where she did not recognize David Evans.
I thought DNA didn't define race.
If it doesn't, then I need a real good reason why the black player wasn't tested?
The defense could blow the party goer photo array right out of the water. Call it what you may, but the procedures tell another story.
Did the array include the non-LAXers or the black LAX? Wasn't it relevant to identify ALL party goers? Is not Nifong seeking access to private data on these individuals as potential future witnesses? He certainly appears to be selective.
Then there are the questions asked during the line up as I mentioned in a previous post.

Here is that motion with the Post-It note lineup.
Evans photo is part of group F, and group F is marked "did not pick any" with the note.
Curious that we have these same lineup instruction sheets dated the 16th and the 21st.
That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger....you and your son must be hulkish by now. I think your story proves that you have lots of dignity left, I can not imagine that happening to my son. I used to worry about my daughter in the real world, but now, because of stories like yours and the Duke case I worry just as much about my sons. Scary!
I just don't see how Nifong can say that on 4/4 he didn't know who was at the party, and that he needed to ask CGM.
Not that he won't say it, mind you.
If Nifong really wanted to know who was at the party, then he would have put Kim through the same procedure as Crystal, right?
Somehow I doubt that happened. :-)
THANKS! Will have to study later.
They did, Hogeye. You are correct.
The 3/16 instruction sheet bears the letter A, and the 3/21 sheets bear the letter F.
Were they the same lineup conducted over several days, or different lineups?
I guess they made groups of photos labeled A, B, C, etc. and gave the instructions with each group. The first instruction sheet is what they showed Crystal, and the copy of that sheet had the results from that group.
Thus we have 2 Sheets labeled F, the second one with the result, "did not pick any" posted on it.
Don't sell yourself short. You have more dignity than you know as evidenced by stepping out of your comfort zone to help others.
You are often in my prayers.
Exactly. If Nifong uses the line about id'ing the attendees at the party, we will quickly know whether the presiding judge is independent or in the DA's pocket.
It wouldn't shock me to learn that some of Chalmer's boys new the AV, hence the comment about checking the "young 'uns."
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
That comment to me, about the kids, only makes sense if they've had experience with Crystal or know her. Durham is a very busy place crime wise - and I wouldn't be surprised if she was "allowed" to operate.
DE said clearly that he and the others went voluntarily to DPD and spent hours going over the roster to identify who was at the party.
That would have been on March 16th... So DPD had a preliminary list then...
It would be interesting to know which of the cops made that statement. There was nothing in Shelton's statement that I recall seeing about the AV asking them to look in on her kids.
It was a male voice talking to another male and I thought a woman took her to the clinic... Maybe it's contained in some other cop report that we haven't seen yet...
Police Chief Chalmers is feeling a lot of heat in the kitchen.
Do you know something we don't
:-)
