The Gay French Superhero!
Ah, good ol' GFS!
OMG!!!! HILARIOUS!
Da-duuuummmm!!!!!
Got any plans to see Superman Returns? I think Dad and I are going tomorrow night.
Not yet. I'm not sure if I want to see it. Tell me what you think if you do. I heard some ramblings that the producers took out the word "America" in the phrase, "Truth, justice, and the American Way" in the movie. They changed it to "Truth, Justice, and all that."
When the producers were asked about the change, they said they wanted SM to be "global" and not American.
Well, that is silly if it's true.
"And all that" doesn't sound like a heroic phrase so much as a cynical joke, so I imagine that would be uttered by the newspaper editor guy instead of Superman himself.
IMO, the modern-day Spiderman series (Sam Raimi) is the absolute best out there. Before that, it was Batman (1989), which I think started the whole flood of superhero movie remakes (minus Spiderman--I don't recall a movie, just the TV show).
Yes, the Spidey movies are the best.
I know I'm on dangerous ground when I say this, but Batman '89 is a terribly overrated movie. It's not necessarily a bad movie, but it is very poorly constructed.
The real modern day comic book movie genre was started by Richard Donner's Superman. Although it took a very long time after that for comic book-to-film adaptations to really get started.
There actually were a few comic book movies going way back into the early days (40s and 50s), but most of them were really bad. Most notably is "Batman," from 1943, which starred Lewis Wilson.
Well, I normally try to distance a piece of fiction from its creators, and especially what they have to say, so I'll have to see it for myself.
Just stopping by to say "hey."
Got the spotted owls breasts ready to marinate for that 4th of July barbecue yet?
Manatee steaks are good, too, but they're not in season right now. ;-)
Me too, at least I try too. If I'm not sure about a movie, I wait for like-minded reviews to come in before I go see something.
Jack Sparrow on the other hand I MUST GO SEE. I know Johnny Depp loves France, but oh well.
Allegra!!!
I can't WAIT for Pirates 2!
Personally, I don't know if I've said this to you, but I've been predicting for a long time that the second "Pirates of the Carribbean" is going to be sort of like "The Empire Strikes Back," meaning that it's going to be darker and more involving and delve deeper into the characters...and maybe even have a huge plot twist.
Max!
Pcottraux!!
I'd best get going. The split shift waits for no man.
