The Official Weekend Single's Thread ---May 26 -29 (Memorial Weekend US - Spring Bank Holiday Weekend UK)
Posted by Snugs;proud_yank
This weekend in America is Memorial Weekend a time when Americans honour their military dead.
Yeah, same here.
Or CBS Evening News.
Really? That's music to my ears. I have the History Channel as well, but I haven't watched it. I'm going to from now on. It's hard to find an impartial station that gives you the facts accurately and without spin.
When they have documentaries and specials about the WOT, Iraq, Iran, they almost always seem to have a pro-US point of view.
Feel better soon.
Hugs!!!
Ahhh, the venerable Nike. There were many different combinations (Nike-Hercules, Nike-Ajax, etc.) In fact, the Nike system served as the foundation for an early ABM until the US signed the ABM treaty with the USSR (which the Soviet Union violated before the ink was dry).
The History Channel, for the most part, is quite objective and gets their facts straight. There have been only a small number of programmes with which I have found fault.
That's nice. I'm gonna watch it from now on, thanks.
Smart young guys are fine with me.
LOL, is Star Jones the Hostess of the View?
Yep, I like smart young guys. One in particular :)
Beats me. I watched a few minutes of it once when I was home because of an illness. I was bored and flipped through the channels. The View amplified my nausea...
Night, Dolly!
Guten nacht.
LOL!!! I can't watch stuff like that. Drives me nuts.
Guten nacht.
Sleep well.
A lot of my research is centered around site M-74 (1956-71) specifically...
It had both Nike-Ajax and Nike-Hercules. And, according to county files, the site had the nuclear-capable Improved Nike Hercs. (and all the fixings such as a fallout shelter, HIPAR, etc.)
It's a shame though. The launch site is currently owned by the GSA (who wants the city to take back the land)--and most of the site demolished a few years ago (before I had an opportunity to check it out). However, I've been on the site (with permission, of course).
I'd personally like to go to SF-88L sometime (the one that's been preserved as a museum) and look around.
Believe me, it is two minutes of my life that I wish that I could have returned to me.
Oh, I'm still here. Just saying night to Dolly.
You outta here?
Nay, I am still about and shall be on deck 'till sometime after midnight, CDT.
