(Vanity) Newbie Prayer Request

FReepers.. I have only been a member of this community for a few days. In that short amount of time I have quickly come to know that the FReepers are compassionate and just plain good folks.

I am sending out to you a prayer request for my bride of nearly 18 years. This evening, we were counseled by her doctor that a lump we discovered in her breast a couple weeks ago is in fact cancer. The type is Infiltrating Ductal Carcenoma. We don't know what stage or any other information yet, really - we will meet with the DR tomorrow for details and to discuss treatment, etc. We are, frankly, very scared. If you could meet this amazing woman you would be very fond of her. For the past some 17+ years she has followed me all over the world as I served in the Army until retiring in December '05. She's spent countless months and years without me raising our two incredible boys on her own, while I did what was asked of me for our nation. She has always stood behind her Soldier and has performed, literally, thousands of hours of community service volunteer work for Army families. She received a certificate from President Bush last year for all she has done through the years. She's just an amazing woman.

Your prayers for my lady, Anita, would be so very much appreciated. We are faithful and believe in the power of prayer.

Thank you for your genuiness and for caring about our great nation the people that support it.

If anyone has experience dealing with breast cance, I would be most grateful to you for sharing your insight and thoughts through FReepmail.

Dear Friends - we are overwhelmed by your compassion and out pouring of love and support. Tears have been shed reading your posts and we are so very grateful. We met with the DR today. Anita will have the tumor and the lymph nodes in her breast area removed surgically a week from today. That will be followed by radiation treatments in the area around the tumor, and that will be followed by several months of chemotherapy. We won't have a true prognosis until the tumor and the lymph nodes are pathologically examined and the likelihood of the cancer having already spread has been determined. We are assured that as it stands right now, it is the most common and most treatable type. We are optimistic and Anita is in better spirits than I can hardly imagine... she's remarkable and so are all of you for rallying around us in our time of need. Friends - a quick update on my Anita. Yesterday, her doctor advised us that the pathology lab in Bethesda MD who double checked her biopsy was inconclusive about the type of cancer she has. She was originally scheduled to have the tumor and all the surrounding lymph nodes surgically removed today. As a result of the pathology inconclusiveness, she elected to have only the tumor removed at this point. The tissue will be sent to Bethesda for further pathology and it will take about a week to get the report back. So, there is a possibility that the cancer is not invasive... The surgery today went just fine. She is in some pain, but is resting as comfortable as possible. Your prayers have been instrumental - we are ever so grateful. I will keep you posted.

Update on my Anita. Friends, yesterday we received bad news in that the cancer is in fact invasive and it was not contained only to the tumor that was removed last week. She must now have a complete mastectomy. That will happen next Thursday, followed by extensive chemotherapy. Pathology will then determine the likelihood the cancer has spread elsewhere and dictate what further testing is necessary.

We continue to be grateful for our many blessings and for your prayers.

I am so sorry to hear the bad news....

I will continue to pray for your bride...and you as well.

I know this has been hard, and disappointing...the waiting is so very difficult. May God bring you strength and comfort as you wait....but most of all, may God bring the healing necessary for you two...to have 17 more wonderful years...at least.
