Tech Support: JUMBO sizes on the internet
FreeRepublic | 2006-05-08 | loboinok

My problem this time is... everything on my monitor went JUMBO on me. Fonts, everything.

By the way... it is only on the web. Desktop is normal.

If you're running IE Click on the 'View" button on your toolbar and resize your fonts.

What browser do you use? In both IE and Firefox you can use the View / Text Size pulldown to adjust the size of the fonts on the screeen.

If you're on Firefox, hit Ctrl-Minus a couple of times.

Open Internet Explorer. Click View>>> Text Size>>> Medium.

Just press and hold the Control key, then rotate the mouse wheel back and forth; the text size will change size (within the limits of the program).

Definitely the font settings in your browser. What browser are you using?

If it really is 'everything' including graphics, it is more likely to be the setting on your monitor rather than the fonts setting.

If it is just the fonts, I've seen the problem with older Mozilla installs, but not with Firefox.

That happened to us on and off when we had windowsME. I just closed the explorer and reopened it. Haven't had that trouble with windowsxp.

I just haven't figured out how it changed to begin with.

Sometimes you can hit a keyboard shortcut without realizing it, and really screw things up lol. I'd say that's what happened.

Once I got a call from a guy who said his display was sideways. I was wondering WTF he was talking about. I went to his office, and sure enough it was sideways lol. I don't know what he did, and he didn't even know. I laid him monitor on its side until I could find a fix lol.

Glad to hear you're back where you wanted to be.

As KoRn said, sometimes an inadvertent keyboard maneuver can mess things up. Many of us have been known to do that. :-)

Sounds to me like you have accidentally started Microsoft Magnifier, an Accessibility Utility for the visually impaired... It is also available in Internet Explorer 6.0 and above. Turn in off.

One of my kids messed mine up really good once. I was about ready to reinstall Windows when I finally figured it out after a couple of hours lol.
