We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! Movies enjoyed the past couple weeks & recommend to you if the spirit moves: The Sentinel, Inside Man; Thank You For Smoking; Take the Lead; Friends With Money. In the news: TomKat (Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes) had their love child, a daughter, this week. Have NOT heard if he actually did eat the placenta, like he said he would ( I do hope he was kidding) Tony Snow fans await his decision on Monday if he will be the new White House Press secretary
Happy Weekend at ATRW. As the Chair & his lovely bride wind down their second(or third or fourth?) honeymoon at the beach, those of us that remain at our humble homes will chat & share our news & our thoughts on love & life.
Post your short news items, issues of interest, links, and so on. All who advance the Cause are welcome.
LET'S ROLL!!!
I was going to move some mums today but since we are to get a cold snap this week I will leave them where they are until it warms up again.
Prayers continue for your mom and you.
Congratulations....
I'm so mad. George Stephanopolous just showed an interview with the black actress who will portray Condi Rice in a new play or movie (I didn't catch the beginning). The actress used to be on ER, he said, so her name will be known to some freepers.
She said that she is disgusted with Rice and so it's difficult to play the role. I am so sick of Hollyweird who want human rights for some groups and not for others (like Iraqis).
No, Dolly, I didn't model this year and didn't go to the fashion show for the first time in 8 years. I really don't care for the clothes right now and there's no way I'm putting them on my body.
This is an interesting article about how the new chief of staff Bolten intends to reinvigorate the Bush presidency and hopefully help maintain a Republican majority in November.
The article states that Tony Snow's physicians have given him the go ahead to accept the WH spokesperson job.

bev, prayers continue for Miss Lily and her children. She is just waiting for "her turn" to be in God's chorus. You really needed the rest. Bless you.
Wonder when one of those homicide bombers blows himself into hell here in the states. it is coming for sure.
Also, we know next time he comes home we get to keep him home.:-)
..my husband was brought up Lutheran....baptized, confirmed, etc...
..I was brought up Baptist...
...so when we were first married, we compromised and joined a Lutheran church whose pastor was a Wheaton graduate :)
...stayed in that wonderful church 14 years, before we joined the Presbyterian PCA church...
...I guess our church was 'low service' ....Pastor wore just a very plain shepherds robe....and although the service was liturgical, it was minimal.
We didn't sing all verses of hymns....but we attended another Lutheran church once where they did sing all verses of hymns and one hymn had 12 verses.!!!...lol
We didn't go back there :)
I guess we're in a 'low Presbyterian' church as well......St.Andrews in Orlando (RC Sproul's church) or Coral Ridge in Ft.Lauderdale (D.James Kennedy's church) are 'high church'...
I know you enjoyed your time with Ev.....God bless him!!
16 month old Emily was chasing all the little boys around church ...after service!---Her mommy won't cut her hair....and little wisps are hanging down in her eyes....
..Mommy won't let us cut it either....because it's her baby!
Em looks like the little moppet on the Les Miserables..cover :))
:-)
Yikes!
My husband will vouch for me....we sang 12 verses...
..Actually...(oh, you will appreciate this, lol)...
Actually, the pastor tried to signal 'cut it' to the little elderly lady playing .....and she would never look up, and just kept playing.
Pastor was sweating it by the time the last verse rolled around :))
That's cute.:)
I guess I am simply out of the loop on fashion. Talbot's isn't going to get much money from me this year.
..but for goodness sakes, what about us who've gone through a pregnancy or two and have a bit of mileage!?...lol
I've got half dozen sheaths that I mix n match with asst. sweaters and that makes do for church.
I love dresses, but they're not making classic dresses anymore, imo....or else they're not made well.
The salesclerk at our new Kohl's told me 'we don't carry dresses'...
What kind of discrimation is that?
Even Coldwater Creek...has tube dresses that only look good on size 0!
Whatever happened to shirtwaist or empire with actual sleeves in them????...and darts....and don't fall apart after the first wear?
Am I telling my age?
MozartLover.....that's exactly what happened....you nailed it :)
..I would have answered sooner, but I was resting on the sofa, and fell asleep....guess it was time for my nap!
Splendid report on the concert, Molly. Congratulations.
I remember singing the Saint-Saen "Oratorio" at Christmas several years ago. The choir hadn't rehearsed or heard every single movement, some were beautiful solos and small ensemble works. (We performed it in English, which made it IMO, more enjoyable.)
The choir was as caught up and moved in both hearing and singing all that glorious music as the audience was. The feeling lasted for a long, long time and added immensely to that years Christmas experience.
I don't think Tony will take the job either. But I'm holding enough space to be proved wrong too.
We got a Talbots store in this small town a few months ago and I was so excited. Until I walked in the door. I don't know who is wearing those '70's redux clothes; they're horrible.
A California cop organizes and sends 20 tons of used gear to Iraqi cops. A group of them are going to Iraq to show the Iraqi soldiers how to use the gear too. Godspeed to them; it really brought tears to my eyes to hear this story.
CBS posts her columns, here is one that also appeared on National Review Online. Title Nine Nonsense
Also, Independent Womens' Forum.

(p.s. So did I.:-)
