We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! Movies enjoyed the past couple weeks & recommend to you if the spirit moves: The Sentinel, Inside Man; Thank You For Smoking; Take the Lead; Friends With Money. In the news: TomKat (Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes) had their love child, a daughter, this week. Have NOT heard if he actually did eat the placenta, like he said he would ( I do hope he was kidding) Tony Snow fans await his decision on Monday if he will be the new White House Press secretary
Happy Weekend at ATRW. As the Chair & his lovely bride wind down their second(or third or fourth?) honeymoon at the beach, those of us that remain at our humble homes will chat & share our news & our thoughts on love & life.
Post your short news items, issues of interest, links, and so on. All who advance the Cause are welcome.
LET'S ROLL!!!
Good morning everyone.
Molly, great report on the concert. I knew you'd be great. I'm happy I was right. :-)
Jem, how was the horse show? Did it rain?
Good morning.
Al Jazeera airs new Osama bin Laden tape. I'll bet my house he sounds just like the Democrats.
It always warms my heart when groups sing the Star Spangled Banner and aren't ashamed of acting patriotic. It's been such a sea change living in the south. We used to go to sports games and the Star Spangled Banner was played and too many men didn't remove their hats or participate in any fashion. People still moved around, talked and bought beer.
Then we moved here and I remember the first few times at parades where people stopped talking, removed hats, and put their hands over their hearts and sang their lungs out. It brought tears to our eyes.
Good morning. The sun is breaking through the fog so it's time to get crackin' around here.
Another tangled web made by a clintonite.
It rained off and on, nothing more than a light drizzle which was short. The horse show went very well. It wasn't a "regular" horse show, but more of a chance for those involved with Story Book Farm to show everyone what they have done and to get a participation ribbon. The youngest did well in command of her horse and showing the riding skills she has mastered. I'm glad we all got to attend as she has been showing up at her older brother's and older sister's performances all her life. But they're not going to be around for hers. My SIL and my niece were also there to cheer the youngest on.
Good morning lovely ladies!
A cool, damp, dreary day in NE Wisconsin.
Ev left yesterday to go back to the sandbox. Haven't heard from him yet; assuming the trip is going well; he'll check in when he's back at camp.
Last night hubby & I attended a "reunion" of sorts..........he used to play in a 15-piece dance band which is still active and performs locally. They are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year........two or three of the originals are still with the group...........and they invited all past members to a little celebration. They play big band stuff, mostly jazz, some blues, a little pop, and one obligatory polka (this is Wisconsin, after all.;^) They had a nice food spread and a bar, and we got to see lots of folks we haven't seen in many years (including an old boyfriend of mine, and another guy I had a crush on at one time.;^)
Yesterday (before all that) I did the "Lutheran" thing again (subbing for a friend at a service). I think I just about have the gist of the Lutheran service down; it really isn't all that different from ours. The biggest difference is that that sing ALL the verses of ALL the hymns (*gasp*)!! ;^)
Molly, glad to hear your concert went well. What an accomplishment!
Hoping to have a relaxing day here, once church is done. (Not that church isn't relaxing, but you know what I mean.:)
Have a great day all of youse and I'll prolly be back later in the day.
((((Hugs)))) to all!
I Googled Story Book Farm...nice place.
Thank you Molly, for the wonderful links! Steyn taking on the eco-wackos starts my day beautifully!
Dolly, your evening was enjoyable?
It is a very nice place. The owner/manager always has something encouraging and positive to say. Everyone yesterday was happy. The only exception was toward the end of the show when the owner admitted to me that she and one other person had been up since 4:15 getting ready and braiding 11 horses' manes and they were tired.
The youngest is telling me that she wants to major in something equestrian (she is considering Asbury college for that very reason) and work with horses in her career. Considering how I was at that age, I can well believe it. I am doing my best to make those options available to her.
Big bucks in dentistry and farriery around here. It's hard to find a good one of either profession.
Actually, it's hard to even find one. Many of the farriers don't like to have clients with only one or two horses. They prefer the stables. At 30-50 dollars a horse, the stables would be the way to go.
"Finally, we might decide that civilization itself is worth preserving. In that case we have to work out what to save and which people would be needed in a drastically reduced population -- weighing the value of scientists and musicians against that of politicians, for example."
These libs are REALLY scary sometimes.
CA=work!!

Thank you all for your continued prayers...
It looks like you've received a new passport and other papers needed?
Howdy All. It's been a busy few days. But wonderful. Boy 1 is now a "married man", golly, seems just last week he was booming into the office wanting something for show and tell. Time flies. It was a beautiful wedding, the bride was gorgeous. Of course my boy was handsome. When the priest said to kiss the bride, she got the giggles and wouldn't let Boy 1 kiss her, for a minute or two. The whole congregation had a good laugh. Our house was used as the staging area, she was prepared for the wedding here, the photographer was everywhere. Her family from Mexico, brought him and 2 assistants to make sure there were enough pictures, and I can say, there were a lot of pictures, during the preparations, after she was dressed, they took quite a few of her standing on the stairs, on the landing, decending the stairs, in front of our permanent mesquite tree. I've never seen so many pictures taken, plus video. Roomey and I stayed out of the way and watched. It was fun. Then the limo arrived, and what a time that was. There were about 5 cars in the parking area, everyone was moving from one vehicle to another making sure everything was order, the photographer was still taking pictures, the video was running, the bride looked to be the most unconcerned, it was a circus.
