Blame extramarital relations on the nose. Scientists have finally cracked why women are attracted to married men. After studying mice - well, wives do smell a rat in a marriage -- British researchers say women may be genetically programmed to seek out men who carry the scent of their spouses' skin.
So perhaps Jennifer Aniston can relax. Angelina Jolie might have been attracted to the smell of the Friends star when she fell in love with Brad Pitt on the sets of Mr and Mrs Smith.
Did Shobhaa De know that her theory of south Indian heroines falling for married Punjabi heroes in Bollywood had an olfactory basis? Probably not, but an Indian psychiatrist says it could be a reason.
Elucidating further, scientists say that a woman finds a man, who carries the smell of another woman, more attractive than a "clean" man. Neurologist Donald Paff, who collected data from the mice world, says, "It could be seen as a female trusting the male choice of another female."
The key is the chemical oxytocin, nicknamed "attachment hormone", which is released during pregnancy, childbirth and sex. Female mice who had oxytocin were attracted to males who were attached. It could be the same for Homo sapiens.
Barry Keverne, Cambridge University professor, says females might be selecting those males because of a need for "sisterhood". Perhaps Brad Pitt should worry. "The odour may have made females believe the male was another female," says Keverne.
So if something is rotten in your marriage, woman, blame it on your smell. Even science let the man off so easily.
I think the scent of greenbacks is what they're seeking.
That doesn't make sense, single men have the smell of a woman on them also in this day and age. Shoot, married men probably have even less contact with a woman than a single man playing the field.
Tip for single guys, I guess: if you have any platonic female friends, be sure to hug them a lot. That should do the job.
What I smell with married men is trouble, frankly!
L
This might explain why all these teachers are attracted to 10 & 12 year old boys - they're smelling the kids' mothers.
It's not their fault afterall!
I'm fairly intelligent, but I do not understand. Does this mean that these women are lesbian since they are attracted to the other woman's scent? ;)
Ya got a nose for trouble, huh? :-)
If you get there early, you have your choice of the best spots.
If you wait too long, the pickin's are slim. You either have to lower your expectations and take a space farther away, or spend a good deal of time looking for that prime spot -- often waiting for the person who was there to leave.
I'm not sure how to fit infidelity into this theory. Is it taking a spot for which another has been patiently waiting, parking in a reserved section or tow-away zone, or simply rolling your SUV over the little sports car in the way.
Towanda!
In other findings: Male AND Female skanks are attracted to each other.
KEYWORD SEARCH: Whores, Whoredogs, 'ho's, b@tches, sleeze bags, etc....
(batting eyelashes)
I also have a nose for staying out of trouble.
Towanda?
TOWANDA?
Chanticleer, you must be my soul sister with that remark!
Now where's my sledge hammer......
The infidelity would be like finding a pretty good spot, but thinking you can always find a better one, and moving to a different one. Only, once you get there, you decided your first spot was better anyway.
Married men have a different scent? Does it come from the cheeto stains on our fingers or the beer stains on our shirt?
Nope, it's your wife silly. Hubba, hubba!
LOL...cheeto stains...too funny.
Actually - single guys smell like beer and pizza, not sure what married guys smell like.
.
We referred to the phenomena as having "a little stank on your hang low" but I was crude back then and would never use such a degrading term now.
