OK, new thread for the next week, now that Pittsburgh has another Super Bowl ring.
First, a big shout out to the SETI and BOINC members who have added CPUs to the effort. Remember, its Team 36120, NOT Team 0.
Next, congrats to all for bumping our team up to 714 processors and 271 user names. We have a number of new users in the team, with over a 50 computers now from GetLoaded.com, a trucking support website, all contributing while their owners ply our freeways keeping the nation moving.
We now have 22 members who have contributed at least 10,000 points each. Greenbo, stylin19a, and smith288 are the latest to reach this milestone. Chesterbelloc and mediamole will join them this next week. Great job! Even dfwddr will make this mark one day ;`)
Even more impressive, our team now boasts 180 members who have folded at least 1,000 points. That is more than the entire number of folders for our erstwhile left-wing environazi competitors!
Free Republic Folding@Home Stats Page
On the global front, Free Republic Folders is now listed at # 268. We will be in the Top 250 on Wednesday!
As we continue to grow there are a number of milestones coming around the bend:
Top 250 by February 10
Top 200 by the end of the February
We have 1,350,000 points so far and have folded over 10,000 WU. We will soon reach an exalted mark of folding a million points per month, each and every month! Fantastic!
Thanks again to all that are helping us advance science and promote the peaceful use of computers.

I missed this...what happened to Live_Free_Or_Die_77? It looks like you were greeting him as a new member, but then his posts at 203 & 204 were pulled. Troll?
Thanks!

It works very well on a Mac. The download is towards the bottom of this page.
Enter a screen name (usually the same as the FR screen name), team 36120 and away you go. Let the program run for an hour and it will self-benchmark.
Thank you! I'm going to the link, downloading the program, and joining the FR Team!!!
Troll would be my guess, but they didn't reveal it on this thread.
You're a chick? Whoa, good thing I didn't reveal the secret hand-shake or something.
I started folding yesterday, but my first work unit won't be done probably for several days. Some questions:
1. Whacky question--any way I can get this thing to run on an Amiga??
2. Does the program need to have internet access all the time, or can I have it offline while it's working on work units?
Amiga - don't know. Probably only with an emulator.
As to internet access, keep it online for a few days if possible, just to benchmark and get on the list. I have laptops folding that don't get on the internet very often and I have switched them all to a console version that uploads in batches.
One of my laptops started processing work units slower.
Looking at the hidden processes running after a restart shows FahCore_82.exe running and I have not yet launched the client. CPU usage 98%
Launching the client the console opens and starts processing ...
Looking at the hidden stuff again shows 2 Cores running @ 49%
I'm thinking of trashing one of them but hate to loose the WU.
Any thots? Running XP
I know! WU hooo! Working on #2!
Yea! Top 50!
Thanks Tex, for pinging your list to the Beer Trap thread.
Is one of the two processes the GUI version and one the console version? The instructions warn against that.
Or do you have two copies of the console version running in different directories?
If it's the latter case, I'd just let it run until it finshed a work unit and then trash the one that finished first.
Hey, I think I've already mailed you on this, but wouldn't it be cool if you got all the ping list keepers to let their contacts know about this.
Just a thought!
only console no GUI
I have deleted everything I could find and started from scratch several times - it would not let go .. maybe this last time I did it right cause it's back to processing one WU @ 97%
Thanks
I'm not an expert...but it sounds like you have FAH setup to run as a service, so it starts on system start-up. When you launch the console manually you are running it a second time. If you only have one FAH program and folder, you are working on the same WU twice, at about half speed. I can't imagine this is a good thing.
If you run the console as a service you don't have to (shouldn't) launch the progarm manually. To check the status of the program, look at the FAHlog file or UnitInfo file. The log file contains all of the text you usually see in the console window.
I will start a new thread shortly, once I update the ping list
