I am just curious what the rules are here.
Having a post moved from 'news' to 'blogging' in particular... why would that happen if the story was NOT from a blog.
Yet I see fake editorials and polls from the NYT in 'news' all the time.
Anyway, just curious it is only a mod's personal feelings about a news site that determines what is 'news' and what is not.
Thx.

A FReepmail to the Mods or JimRob would be sufficient, don't you think?
No, I don't think so. Obviously I'm not the only one with the question.

I see your post was from Debka. It is considered to have a high imaginary content.

I'm second. That's only because you refuse to recognize any telescopes other than Hubble.

I stay in Gen/chat alot because I post my astronomy picture of the day.
Besides, I tend to stay away from serious issues. Gets me in trouble sometimes.

Generally, any news from an official source gets posted under "news." Breaking news is reserved for just that, and the rest goes under extended news. Eyewitness stuff can go under news, or reliable third party source stuff. If an editorial would be considered newsworthy then post it under news. This would be things like op/ed pieces written by pols, or stuff that really impacts the news. It would not include op/ed pieces about gardening or poodles.
Ok, well then who desices what is an 'official source'? CNN, NYT? What about MEMRI, what about New York Post, what about web only news like newsmax or slate, what about 'intel' sites like TerrorismWatch.org, Geostrategy-direct, globalsecurity.org, and debka? What about MEGA-blogs like RegimeChangeIran? Again... only asking.

"I am just curious what the rules are here." 1. Complete your questions with the appropriate punctuation, i.e. "?"
2. Make sure you're logged in.
3. Thou shalt not stune another FReeper's Beeber unless they're a troll, in which case they need a good zotting.
4. All your base are belong to us.
5. You can eat your cheese but don't bite my sister.
6. All moose must be kept on a leash.
7. bey the viking kitties...
...And the eighth and final rule, if this is your first night at Fight Club, you have to fight.

Yep, and thats fine. If they want to do that, its obviously their prerogative.
BUT.. I would appreciate a list of sites that they consider to have 'high imaginary content' so that I don't bother wasting time posting the stuff.
That is, unless there is NO list, and its just up to whatever mod comes by, to decide where it should go. Thus my original question...

No, I'm not trying to make friends with the mods, and yes I was very angry when I posted that and it shows, won't deny that.
It doesn't change my more reasoned question and tone I've taken since I calmed down.
Besides, even if I was or wasn't "friends" with mods, or they hated my guts, shouldn't determine what is news and what isn't.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, P. Coe-troe (love the sound of that). This thread has now been moved to General/Chat. ;-)

Heh, I don't give 2 bits where it ends up if I get a response.
I would rather other people know what the rules are as well, but I can settle if they want to respond in this low-traffic section.

Bah... I just re-read your response, and I wonder why you pasted together comments from different replies to different people.
Then you include the timestamp and posts to make it look 'authentic'.
The only reason you'd do both (one or the other could be mistake) is to try to misrepresent what I said. Don't be a LIAR.
The blisfully ignorent comment was to another person, like you, who love to inflate their head by being smarter than those dumb schmucks that would even consider to visit Debka.... NOT towards the mods (which I did call useless)
Just wanted to correct your LIE on that.

1. DEBKA is not news.
2. Yours was a duplicate post. It actually ought to have been deleted, if they keep with deleting duplicate posts.
3. If you do a SEARCH, you will find that "posting" rules are a common Admin Lecture Series thread, and then you could actually find the answer all on your own.
welcome to Free Republic.
